Ideal size and looks for a newbie Android user
I thought to knock it down to a 4-star, but for the time being it gets a 5 out of 5. I hope I will not have to edit this in say - a few months' time in regret. But so far - the Mini is good to go.What I like about it is obvious, great build quality and functionality. The OS seems confident in giving the performance needed for a decent user experience. I don't think it's in need of a quad-core processor. I must add, the reason I went for the mini - is the size. I just can't bring myself to carry a hug-sized phone that reminds me of those huge Walkie Talkies the Yuppies' use to carry around in the 80s. To me a phone should be heard and not seen. Also, the transfer of old contacts from the old Nokia Phone - was a breeze: I was dreading it - but the Mini anticipates this and initiates a connection via Bluetooth to the old phone during setup. The item I received seems the genuine article too: I've been reading the various customer reviews of each phone brand and I really felt a sickening dread at getting a refurb through the post from Amazon. Nothing like that happened, and now I can enjoy my phone. At least - thanks to Amazon's reviewers - I'm an informed buyer.Few things that I dislike: the USB power socket on the phone itself. It's like HTC made the mini out of high quality design and engineering - but they've decided to give us the most flimsy looking-feeling USB charging port. I mean - are they hoping it will break - so that we buy another phone with the same power connection? The power connector is ever so weak looking - I'm sure it will suffer snapping with many users. The Camera isn't as I had expected, although that wasn't my priority. Ultrapixel may be the way to go; perhaps on the One it really shines, but on the Mini - I think it may not be as good. That said, the snap shots are great and as High-res as I'd like; the video in low light - was a bit disappointing - mainly because of the poor zoom distance; then again - it's a mobile phone not an SLR or an HD-Cam.(edit: the camera is really cruddy - don't buy this phone if you want great pictures!) Perhaps I'm expecting too much. The Network reception wasn't as good as the old Nokia - but then again - what's a bar-display on a screen really worth? So far the phone hasn't caused call-drops significantly; although I did have a call dropped that was a bit distorted. We'll have to see.I would recommend it for anyone who does not expect a lot from a phone-camera and wants a smaller-size phone.I have not mentioned the shorter battery life; a lot of reviewers have marked down the Mini for lower Battery charge specs. Still I have my phone on standby most of the time, and it lasted a full 24-hours - without heavy use with videos. Turning off the Bluetooth and Wireless network saves power. Still - it's now an accepted fact that with these Android phones - the battery is not going to give endless play time; the solution is to buy a mobile charger/power pack.

Might aswell pay the extra and get the HTC One
Brought this phone for my daughter, My opinion i would pay an extra £100 (which i did) and go for its bigger brother the HTC ONE, you will get a slightly bigger screen double the storage space and an option to add a micro sd card for even more space, plus higher specs and better camera quality.Links below for HTC One.HTC One 32GB SIM Free Smartphone - Silver: http://amzn.to/1qeSYoyHTC One 32GB SIM Free Smartphone - Black: http://amzn.to/1z4DFD5Review for HTC One Mini:The alumunium construction is handsome and well-crafted. At smaller footprint (HTC One mini is just slightly taller than iPhone 5), handling is a plus point. It slips into pocket effortlessly. The display looks crisp. Some might find 4.3" is too small by today's standard but the quality is above average.Camera does a fairly good job. Daylight shots appear decent, if not great. Low light shots are of acceptable quality.Front camera isn't as good as those on HTC One (M7) or One max. BoomSound and BeatsAudio are responsible for audio department. Loud speakers, crisp output through headset or headphone. If you love using your phone as TV's remote control, the absence of IR blaster is kind of a miss. Performance is commendable, but please keep in mind that it's not fair to compare it to HTC One (M7)'s. Dual-core processor is not lagging at all, but 1 GB RAM might not be satisfying to some power users.Battery is pretty average: not bad but not impressive either.Lack of adding an sd card is also a major put off.Links below for HTC One.HTC One 32GB SIM Free Smartphone - Silver: http://amzn.to/1qeSYoyHTC One 32GB SIM Free Smartphone - Black: http://amzn.to/1z4DFD5

Great size, great phone
I'm one of those people who change my phone a lot, and after a few years of having android phones getting bigger and bigger I decided to trade in my Xperia Z and go down a size to the mini....and I haven't been disappointed!Although the mini doesn't quite have the lovely build quality of the flagship HTC One, it is still a wonderful thing to hold in the hand and feels like a quality product. It also has much of the functionality that most people will ever need. It zips along at a good speed, the HTC apps are generally very good, the display is excellent, sound quality is good, and I think the size is perfect, so much more pocketable than the around-5-inch phones.Cons:--Its slimness is lovely, but not too practical as I do find it slippy in the hand. However the HTC-made hard case sold separately (with the changeable colour ends) is very stylish without adding bulk and also helps to keep a good grasp of it.--Silly thing, but because the top and bottom look very similar I often find myself trying to press the usb hole to switch the power on (the power button is in exactly the same position on the other end of the phone) :)--It has not got the power/memory/features of the One, but then I didn't expect it too...-- ...nothing else I can think of!I love this phone! Such a nice size and design. I can thoroughly recommend it.That said, the One is getting cheaper and now there's not a huge amount of price difference between this and the One Mini, so do think carefully before purchasing as the One is certainly a impressive and powerful phone....but that bit bigger!
