That Blackmore family have really got a hold on me!
Such a suprise that they play the sort of music I have loved for 35 years - and I have only just discovered them! I thought he would have been a washed out ex heavy metaller. I was SO wrong! Thank you for adding some class to my music collection.

new blackmores night dvd well worth the prolonged wait
to all fans of blackmores night this long awaited first dvd by the band is a must have purchase. The dual dvd packaging and enclosed booklet are of high quality with some quality photographs of Ritchie and Candice therein.dvd 1 consists of the concert burg valdenstein(2004).This is a really good performance by a band of talented musicians.Candice night on vocals has never sounded better, the highlight being a passionate rendition of "ghost of a Rose". Her use of medieval type wind instruments on a few tracks add greatly to the overall sound of the band. Then of course there's the guitar maestro Ritchie Blackmore. His playing is excuisite, mostly being performed acoustically, but, when he straps on "the strat" for some of the last few tracks he is still the greatest rock guitarist alive. An added bonus is seeing Ritchie' favourite band "geyers" join them on stage for 2 tracks, "the clock ticks on" being a particular highlight of the concert.DVD 2 consists of excellant acoustic tracks/videos and documentaries on blackmores night. These documentaries show the band as genuine, likely personalities who love what they are doing and genuinely wish to please their growing army of fans.Buy this if you are a fan of blackmores night. If you stopped following Ritchies career after he left deep purple and disbanded rainbow you don't know what you are missing. Along with Candice Night he has created some enchanting music which goes from strength to strength.

This is a recording of an absolutely amazing concert, and after watching this DVD I really wish I had been there. It is unfortunate that Blackmore's Night do not seem to get the recognition they deserve in the UK and we do not see them live here enough. This set especially is great value for money, there is an awful lot packed into the 2 DVDs, not just the concert. This seems to be getting very hard to get these days, so if you're a fan of Blackmore's Nigh and you can get your hands on a copy of this, I would urge you to do so. I can promise you won't be disappointed.

A deep purple gone
A dream in a night under the moonlight singing by a candle light...We start from early Deep Purple in particular from the medieval structure of Smoke on the water written by Ritchie Blackmore. For Ritchie is very important to continue with this medieval and renaissance music, so meanwhile the deep purple continued with the business he studied and formed with the American singer Candice Night the Blackmore's Night. This is the most important single purple career! A double dvd dated 2004 with a concert and special features, totally four hours.

Great live DVD
Great live DVD. The musical talent of the band members is exceptional, the voice of Candice Night paired to Ritchie Blackmore’s guitars make a perfect combination. Renaissance baroque and rock with a touch of folk plus some classical make for an exciting and varied set. Lots of bonus material too.

Great double DVD!
This must have been a labour of love for Mr Blackmore - beautifully presented, with one DVD of an entire concert and another with videos, TV appearances, interviews, animation, etc. There are a couple of songs in the concert for Deep Purple fans and Ritchie towards the end eventually swaps his lutes/mandolins/lyres for the old Olympic White Strat.

Blackmore's Night - Castles & Dreams great entertainment
For those fans of Deep Purple who were curious about what Ritchie Blackmore did after he left Deep Purple, this DVD set is a great example of work that he and his other half Candice Night have done from their founding in 1997 up until 2005. As well as featuring their favourite songs, they perform a few classics from Ritchie's days from Deep Purple. Expect an eclectic performance of songs with a medieval flavour. Enjoy.

Are ye going to the Renaissance Faire?
Blackmore's Night tours so sparingly in the United States that it is difficult to get to see them perform "live." A "live" DVD is the next best thing to being there, provided that it captures the experience of being there. For their fans on this side of the ocean and indeed, all their fans around the world, the complete concert on DVD 1 captures the feeling of a "live" Blackmore's Night concert and therefore succeeds immensely in this regard. Some observations: first, Candice Night is not a studio creation. Her voice is as clear, beautiful, and note-for-note perfect "live" as it is in the studio. Secondly, the sound quality is crystal clear - all instruments can be heard distinctly and you feel like you are right there at the concert. Third, it is obvious that Blackmore's Night truly enjoys what it is doing. The interaction with the audience, the interaction among the band members, the improvisations, the engaging banter & stage presence of Candice Night - all come across as authentic and not a put-on for the cameras. It's a feeling of one big family of which the audience and band members are all a part and this comes across in the music. This results in an outstanding performance by all. Once again, we are treated to alternate versions, different arrangements, different instruments, etc. in many of the songs than in the studio versions or the previous "live" versions. As band members point out in the documentary portion: Blackmore challenges them to never perform the same song exactly the same way twice. This results in songs that are fresh and spontaneous and you know you will never see the exact same concert every time you are lucky enough to attend. Here the first half of the concert is tightly performed but things really get interesting in the second half of the show beginning with Home Again, where the band begins to loosen up and improvise and the audience really gets involved. An acoustic version of Child In Time wrapped around Mond Tanz is a treat, but the excitement reaches the stratosphere when halfway through Village on the Sand, Blackmore takes out the Fender Stratocaster and begins playing some spine-chilling electric guitar solos throughout that and several of the remaining songs. The true climax of the night occurs in One For All, propelled by Blackmore's furious blues-tinged soloing and all of the band members along with a couple of Des Geyers' members dancing around the stage in an intense, rollicking, hard rocking grand climax to an unforgettable evening. The bonus material may be a bit of overkill if you are only a casual Blackmore's Night fan, but is essential for the serious fan. I especially enjoyed the final segment of disc 2 where Blackmore and some band members are in a rail car and Blackmore is playing an impromptu acoustic version of Shadow of the Moon along with some chap playing flute and another chap on accordian. The flutist's improvisations on the basic melody toward the latter half of the song are quite impressive. This is a must for all Blackmore's Night fans, especially for those of us who may never get to see a "live" performance in person...A note to the reviewer who complained about the sound quality being not so good: there are 3 different audio/sound formats to choose from: DTS 96/24, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, and PCM Stereo. If you select the wrong format for your sound system, it may sound slightly muddy or the instrument mix may sound out of whack, ie, some instruments may be heard more loudly than others. If you select the correct format, everything should sound as clear as a bell. If you are not sure which one to choose, just try all 3 and pick the one which sounds the best and then sit back and enjoy an aural experience you will not soon forget.
