Don't use the vintage style lighters immediately after refilling with kerosene oil. You can place it for a while, and then ignite the kerosene oil soaked in the wick.2. The lid of the oil fluid lighter is tightly sealed, which can prevent the lighter oil from evaporating to a certain extent, but it is not recommended to place it for a long time.3. Pay attention to when the oil does not fall more or overflow, and avoid igniting lighter.4, If you encounter the retro lighter is not burning, please turn on the machine to check if the kerosene oil and the flint stone are sufficient. If it fails to fire after checking, please put the cotton core in order or remove a portion of the wick to lose it.5.If you feel that the flame of the antique lighter is very small, you can pull the wick out a little bit, so that the flame can grow larger.

Nice at first .. turns out to be disposable novelty
I don't smoke. I just like 'clever' things. I bought this as an 'executive toy' - something to pick up and fiddle with while I am thinking. When I first filled it, it was a delight; every flick of the lever would open the lid, strike a spark and light the wick.Gradually, over a couple of weeks, it would take more attempts to light (despite refilling regularly as the fluid evaporates). Now it takes (after refilling) between 12 and 50 (!) attempts to light the flame. And that's indoors!Back to playing with a gas torch, lighter is for the bin.

Sightly Misleading
Looks great, feels good in the hand, works great, however part of the lighting mechanism is not metal but painted plastic - the part labelled as the "swing arm". Now, in this day and age I understand the (financially motivated) reason behind the annoying tendency to use plastic over metal wherever possible, but why one would do this on a lighter is beyond me. Aside from the obvious functionality -and arguably safety- issues this WILL cause down the line (plastic becomes brittle, brittle plastic breaks) though it certainly looks the part at the moment I know from experience that the paint will inevitably start to wear with use, at which point it's going to become an eye sore and ruin the whole aesthetic of the lighter by making it look like what it is underneath the admittedly very nice veneer: cheap and plastic. Had I known this from the start I would have searched for and bought one with a fully metal construction for a little extra money that would last a lifetime; I expect this on the other hand to last perhaps a month before it starts showing wear, and six months before vital (plastic) parts of the mechanism break, rendering it completely useless. Now again, I understand that this is a relatively cheap item and that cheap items are generally made cheaply, but when an item is essentially doomed to fall apart you aren't saving money, you're throwing it away. The most annoying aspect of this is that this is a very cool, very interesting, very mechanically pleasing lighter, and the body feels good and robust, the gasket in the barrel where you fill it with fuel feels tight and reliable, the addition of another little gasketted compartment within the barrel for a spare flint is a very nice little addition and the attention to detail there is honestly pretty impressive. That the company would then skip out on full metal construction to save what likely amounts to mere pence per unit seems crazy to me. This one addition would make it look, feel, and function like a premium lighter, one I would frankly be happy to pay double the price for. For that reason I look at this lighter's shortcomings with not the anger of a duped consumer but the dull, nagging despair of a disappointed father. It could be so much more, and with such little effort; this could be the next long term staple - the 'hipster' Zippo. But bewitched by the temptation of paying less for construction; and thinking too small to realise that consumers WILL pay more for a decent product, this lighter alas remains an underachiever, squandering its potential for the instant gratification of a few extra pennies. Also not to be a stickler but mine came with neither the heart shaped key to open it or the "Exquisite Bag" advertised. I can live without both, but a pettier man might argue that you pay for what's advertised and that you should get what you've paid for - and he'd be right.

Superb
I'm really impressed with this lighter. Nicely packaged in a presentation box and then a velvet drawstring pouch, it comes with a tool to unscrew the 2 caps on the bottom to replace the flint and fill with petrol and there were also 5 spare flints in the box which was a nice little bonus. It looks great, just the right size (same size as a zippo just slightly taller) and up to now it has lit first time every time.I can't comment on its longevity as only just received but so far I'm very happy with it!Edit: A quick update, I agree with other reviewers that it lasts a lot longer than zippo style lighters before Beeding to be refilled, I filled it 2 weeks ago and it's still going strong, a zippo normally lasts a week at the most.

Retro Style Petrol Lighter
I am so happy with this quality retro style lighter. I purchased two at Christmas and am about to order a third. My dad and partner are very pleased with theirs. They love the style and are impressed that it doesn't need to be refilled as often as other petrol lighters. My brother also really liked its look and simplicity of the action when lighting so the third one is for him! It comes in a gift box with spare flints and makes a great gift. Looks classy and expensive for price which is great.

Steam punk lighter
I love the style of this lighter. It has no shield around the wick, which does make lighting your cigarette difficult on a windy day. But, lets face it, we all know that we should not be smoking. So this counts as a safety feature. Petrol will last at least a week before you need to refill. When the wind is not blowing you have at least a week to kipper yourself and look delightfully stylish when you are not hacking your guts up.Talking of which I am off to get some snout from the shop.

Classy petrol lighter
Bought this lighter for my husband and he loves it. The lighter not only looks classy but it doesn’t need to be refilled as his other petrol lighters. Unlike other petrol lighters even I find this lighter easy to use. Excellent price and excellent delivery.

Poor quality
Simply does not work. I've had the thing completely in pieces trying to get it to work reliably and its just to poorly made. Within a day the black "leather" is coming off possibly from the lighter fluid leaking from the wick hole. The spark wheel is attached to the lighting leaver using a small spring as a bush but the spark wheel is to big so it rely sparks. I've fitted new zippo flints , a new wick and ended up gluing the wheel to the shaft so it would at least spark and it is just not a reliable light.Dont buy
