LG WH16NS40K 16X Blu-ray BDXL M-DISC DVD CD Internal Writer Drive Bundle with Free Cyberlink Media Suite 10 + SATA Cable

I was a little worried about this as so many of the internal blu-ray drives for sale don't explicitly say they will work with Windows 10. This one took me less than 10 minutes to physically switch out my DVD drive and boot up on a 5 year old desktop. It started working immediately with no effort on my part to install drivers or software. VLC player allowed me to play Blu-Rays as easily as DVDs. Very satisfied!I have not bothered with the included software.

I needed a optical drive for backing up my files on my computer. The MDISC work great for this and this optical drive supports the MDISC. I have used this drive for a few months now and it works awesome. The only thing it doesn’t do is play Ultra HD BluRay disc. So if you need a drive that plays Ultra HD. This isn’t the drive you need.

Bought another brand drive and it would not work with my new MSI motherboard. The LG worked just fiine. Operates fast and quiet.

Quiet drive that worked like a charm first time and every time afterwards, so far. Never had an LG drive fail on me, and I do not expect to have any problems with this one. Only drawback is the playback software: Version 14 of Cyberlinks Power DVD, which is now 7 versions old.

The previous lg blu ray i bought would not play blu rays. Lg tech support was argumentative and would not help with the problem.So i returned it.This one came with cyberlink software and that has a blu ray player, so now i can watch blu rays on computer.It installed in the computer bay with no problemsAnd havent had an issue with noise.

Installing the drive went fine. The drive does work. It can read and install software from discs just fine.However.It did not read the CyberLink Media Suite 10 installation disc that came with the drive and therefore cannot install it. It recognizes that it is a disc with data on it, but it hangs when I try to run it and requires a restart in order to get my computer working again. As I mentioned in the beginning, it does, in fact, recognize and install *other* software from *other* discs. I installed drivers and software from other discs perfectly fine. But I can't play DVDs or Blu-rays on the drive--which was 99.9% of the reason why I bought it--without the software on the included disc. Or, ya know, I could spend another $60 - $100 for the most recent version of PowerDVD downloaded from CyberLink's website. I shouldn't have to do this considering that I specifically bought this one because it came with the software necessary for playing DVDs and Blu-rays.It is also *incredibly* loud. It is installed securely, so it's not that it's loose or anything. The drive itself is loud. According to other reviewers, this is not the case with all of the individual units, but caveat emptor: you may get a noisy lemon like me, with no way to play media on it without shelling out for additional software because the (very dated) software on the included disc will not install and instead just freeze your computer until you force a restart.Buy this if you're in a gambling mood and relish the thought of potentially being annoyed, disappointed, and having to pay significantly more than you expected just to make full use of it. What a treat.
