What a mess
I bought this to replace my Vitamix carafe and it does fit and work with the Vitamix base. I've been using it for a few months now and the reason I gave it such a low review is no matter how little liquid I have in it when I turn the blender up the liquid is forced out of the top through the sides of the lid. The old Vitamix carafe I could almost turn upside down and the liquid would stay in. I wanted the stainless steel because our kid knocked the Vitamix carafe off the shelf so we wanted one that wouldn't break if that happened again.

solid, kicks a**
I was a little concerned because of some of the reviews with unusual problems and issues with the quality of the buildI'm not saying I don't believe those people. But more people come running to leave horrible reviews than positive ones given horrible vs positive experiences.I had tried the plastic one that is called raptor, or whatever. It's horrible. Absolutely useless. The original one, which I lost, had the shape of this one. Without the vortex-inducing shape the thing won't blend. You can't just run blades at high speed in an open container with no vortex structure. The job has two parts: intelligent fluid dynamics to put the material into the blades over and over, and blades and power that can pulverize and liquify. This thing feels solid and I love the high shape. The Vitamix jar, great as it is, throws a lot at the top and that has to be constantly squeegeed off every time I run it, sometimes multiple times as I check it. This one has such a high top it can't really get up there as easily.I would say that if you don't have this you aren't getting the maximum out of the Waring Extreme. I haven't tried it hot and I don't know if I will. But this feels like an industrial-strength piece of equipment and I'm glad I got it. I was trying to liquify frozen vegetables into a smoothie and the plastic one with no vortex shape left thousands of tiny particles and hundreds of big ones. This liquifies.

Good idea bad design
Blender upper portion is stainless but base is cheap pot metal and completely corroded after a few months. Bad design needs to be ALL stainless!

Great product! In a class by itself
Great product! In a class by itself. Works great and fits my Vita-Mix perfectly. ALL STAINLESS STEEL PITCHER, BLADES THEMSELVES AND THE INTERIOR PIECE THAT THE BLADES ARE MOUNTED ATOP OF ARE ALL STAINLESS STEEL AS PROMISED. No plastic whatsoever other than the cover. It seems to me that the stabilizing base may be made of aluminum (I could be wrong) but this is okay because that is only the part attached to the bottom of the pitcher to fit it to the machine base properly and obviously has no contact at all, ever, with the contents within the all stainless steel pitcher itself.Update: STILL WORKING GREAT over a year later! So many people are asking if this fits their machine that I decided to update my review with what I think is a logical Idea. READ THIS ANSWER CAREFULLY AS I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT ANSWER YOU ARE ASKING BUT HAVE A VERY LOGICAL WAY YOU CAN FIND OUT FOR SURE. This container couples and works PERFECTLY with the drive socket of MY Vita-Mix model 5000. All anyone out there would need to do is make sure your Vita-Mix model has the same drive socket as my 5000. You can look at pictures of replacement drive sockets for MY model 5000 and see if it is the same as whatever model anyone has. IMPORTANT NOTE : DO NOT USE THE Vita-Mix tamper with this container as it will get chopped up into your food as this container is ever so slightly shorter than the container that comes with the Vita-Mix. This container is just shorter enough for the Vita-Mix tamper to hit the blades of this container. Jesus Bless You! «

Works well, yes, but about those black flecks ...
I am just like the review from S Palmer. I LOVE the idea of it, and it works fine as far as it goes. However, I DO see some very, very tiny black flecks upon running the clear water test. I did some reading on this and there are mixed reviews on how dangerous the black flecks are. Apparently it is the same material used on Teflon pans. Not thrilled about this -- please let me know if you can enlighten me about this. I plan to call Waring customer support to see what they have to say about it.

Great jar, compatible with Vitamix 5200 blender base
The finish is smooth and seams are impeccably mated. I'm currently using it on a Vitamix 5200 base, and I'm very happy with the results. I've seen a number of people complain about lubricants and having rubber exposed at the base. I inspected the jar carefully when it arrived and I found no evidence of the lubricant leaking out. If it's happening in microscopic quantities the thing is it's a moving part... so it's going to need lubricant. If you aren't comfortable with this fundamental fact... don't use a blender because no matter what jar you choose it's going to use lubricant, and as others have pointed out.. .probably the exact same lubricant. At least here I don't have to worry about the jar itself. In the past I used to have a copolyester jar and I found over time it got stained and pitted from grinding lentil/chickpea flour. Then cooking using spices like tumeric in the jar. It really made me realize my ingredients were leaching into the copolyester jar... so there is nothing that would prevent the jar from getting into my food.
