Beginnings - The Sullivan's Island Supper Club: A Carolina Tale (Carolina Tales Book 2)

COMPANION PIECE
Readers should read this between Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island and The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club. It is a companion piece explaining how all the characters met and how the Supper Club was initially formed. I always like as much background as possible on the characters I am reading about, so I was glad Boyer provided this helpful bridge between the two books. I think it will be beneficial to others as well.

Oops
This book is only 37 pages? I thought this was the sequel. Apparently, this is the companion to the Sullivan island supper club. I will be waiting on this one till I read the original book.

Background
Great addition to the books. Gave me a greater understanding of the island and surrounding areas problems. I have read all the books and enjoyed all of them immensely. The recipes are an added bonus though some sound pretty involved.

Very short
Less than 50 pages of actual story. Its really a few little vignettes. Make sure you don't think its one connected story li!e I did when I bought it. Susan is a fine story teller. Thus isn't a story. I obviously just bought it bases on her previous work. I just didn't want anyone else to be misled.

Little Vignettes
Beginnings: The Sullivan's Island Supper Club by Susan M Boyer should be viewed and read as an accompaniment if you have read Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island and offers a collection of interactions that delve into the origins of the beloved characters from the Carolina Tales series. It provides further background surrounding the key people, how they met and history of the quaint little island. The short stories provide readers with a deeper understanding of how all the characters met and how they all eventually formed the Sullivan's Island Supper Club. The small scenes give readers a glimpse into the group's dynamics and friendships.I adore Susan’s characters and stories and this is an excellent supplement to her Carolina Tales Series to get a glimpse into their individual lives and how their every day experiences shape who they are together as a group. What a wonderful little grouping of tales that will delight you and you won’t be disappointed!

The How & Why Sullivan's Island Supper Club began
I read ‘Beginnings-The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club’-book # 2, a prequel book, AFTER I read The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club book! This short book answered a few questions I had about the how & why of The Sullivan's Island Supper Club. I loved learning about the founding members’ long-term relationships and what lead them to form the Supper Club. Some background about lovely Sullivan’s Island enhances the reader's experience; I should have read this first! But if read alone, it would make a reader want to continue onto The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club Book #3 journey! I recommend this book as it will give you more context into the lovely area & friendly people of Sullivan’s Island, the original characters life-long friendships, and reasons for the formation of the SI Supper Club. I received an ARC but it had no influence on my honest recommendation.

Background
This isn’t what I was expecting based on previous works. I liked getting to know who all the characters were in this though it helps build the characters for the new series.

Such a Good Read
No surprise to me that Susan Boyer had another great sorry! I have loved her books from her first Liz book Low Country Boil. I was fortunate to receive an ARC of this new book. The “Supper Club” is so fun and the characters relatable. My husband & I have been in a supper club for 23 years so this was extra for me.Susan continues to produce quality clean reads with humor & mystery. I highly recommend this book.
