I have a couple of Global knives in my arsenal but wanted to add a few more decent knives to my collection. I only mention the Global knives to give you a reference point and to show that I know what quality and expensive knives are like. I did quite a lot of research before my purchase and decided to settle for a few ProCook Professional X50's. Funds are quite tight for me at the moment so I wanted quality at a reasonable price.I have just used my Santoku for the first time and I was happily impressed. It's very sharp out the box, well balanced with a full tang (the metal that forms the blade goes all the way through the handle rather than being joined to the handle... if that makes sense)and nice grip. The .5% carbon added to the metal makes this one tough blade. Strong enough for regular kitchen work be it at home or in a pro kitchen. It comes with a 25 year guarantee so ProCook are obviously happy in their knowledge that they have created a product that will last a long time and not fall apart like some cheaper knives on the market.EDIT: Almost a year on of nearly daily use I have no complaints. Knife blade is still very sharp and handle is as new... only problem is one trip to A&E... too sharp (don't be chatting away without concentrating).

A very solid piece of equipment which can do both heavy and light cutting work. Easily the best chef's knife I have had.

Bought this as a present, we have one already. It's a useful knife, sharp and easy to hold, we use it a lot and are pleased with it.

Nicely weighted knife, easy to use. Have mainly used it so far to chop vegetables and it makes the task so much easier and quicker. It is very, very sharp, which I found out to my detriment whilst finely dicing onions and I managed to nip my finger. I can't say whether it will require sharpening any time soon but I wouldn't hesitate to try more knives from Procook. The knife looks good too.

Very sharp, good weight appears well made

The in the box sharpness is very good and it does come to a very sharp point after sharpening. the handle is very comfortable with the blade being very well balanced. but I feel like the blade is extremely fragile and has to be resharpened.

Had to give this knife five stars as it is perfect for a typical family kitchen. It arrived in a hard foam, specifically moulded package so as to protect it. It is incredibly sharp and I took advantage of a 50% price reduction. Have since ordered another blade from this range.
