Global Cooks Knife
Bought from Amazon seller [...] who have there own web site if you wish to buy direct, as a Global Knifes official seller, i was assured of recieving genuine product. No [...] fakes then, The knife is excellent for our main cooks knife as it has a good weight and feel and 18cm is in my opinion more usable than the 15cm sabatier VSK cooks knife i use but 20cm would have been too big. It keeps its edge very well and so far i have only stoned it once lightly. This is a slicing knife and not for Chopping. Dishwasher safe and easy to clean and hygenic, i expect it to last for many years. Quality Product, i will certainly reccomend Global Knives.

Great knife for sticky things
Global knives are everything kitchen knifes should be: razor sharp, easy to clean and in perfect balance - those are facts. They even look great, but that's just a matter of opinion. This one, with its scalloped blade, is great for things that tend to stick to a normal blade. Oh, one thing: Use Global's sharpeners for Global knives. The edge angle is different from normal knives, and if you sharpen a Global knife the way you are used to or with the tools you are used to, you'll ruin the edge. I don't think Global makes this clear enough, and I believe this is why some people are not impressed with Global in the long run. Use a Minosharp Universal Grey/Black or similar, and your Global knives will stay razor sharp forever!

Best Knives Around
good weight and well balanced knife. I wouldn't use anything else in my kitchen. extremely sharp so should not be used by anyone who doesn't know how to use a proper knife - be aware!

Usual Global quality, not convinced by the fluted sides
Usual Global quality in terms of the sharpness of the blade (and make sure you keep it sharp). As long as you do, it will go through most things like butter. Perfect weight, balance etc that you expect from a Global knife. Now to the unique selling point - the fluted blade; the idea being that veg, potatoes, onions etc wont stick to the side of the knife. Well not quite, a bit better than say the ordinary cooks knife blade but some food still sticks to the blade. All in all a quality product, but you knew that before buying it.

fits in well
have a set of the fluted knives for years now, they are excellent and even I have managed to maintain them! This is my new favourite and if you had to buy one global knife, go for this one as it does everything you really need... I like the choice of the set and having the knife block gives me the excuse of using them every day!

very fine cuts on my fingers from my poor cutting onion ...
This knife is very sharp, I've been giving myself paper cuts with it, very fine cuts on my fingers from my poor cutting onion technique.. I have some other Japanese high quality blades but this one is much lighter, thinner and because it's so slim in thickness it glides through anything. I cut a pineapple with it and it just slides through it. I used to use a bread knife for pineapple, not anymore! I'm far from a pro chef and will probably lose a finger with this thing!! It is very light in weight and the handle shape is very nice indeed! Love it!!

Top quality knife
The Santoku 18cm fluted slicer is the only knife you need in the kitchen. After we got it, didn't need to use any of the other knives. Those thinking of buying a Global knife set should really consider if they actually need all the knives in the set. Admittedly, having a full set of Global knives may carry more kudos with your mates!

I love this knife
Super sharp out of the box, dulls reasonably quickly but easy to sharpen with my Minosharp universal sharpener. Makes all other knives seem blunt and hard to use. I'm no pro cook, just love cooking at home, and this knife makes things so much easier. My friend advised that, really, it's only worth getting one of these knives to do most jobs. The only things i don't use it for is fiddly things like peeling garlic or perhaps chopping fresh chillies, as it's reasonably big. But a great purchase.

From someone who went to culinary school and has worked in various kitchens in all positions this is an amazing knife!!!!
One of the best knives I've ever purchased!!! This santoku 7 inch knife is razor sharp from the start and 3 months of continuous use in a professional catering kitchen and this knife is still just at razor sharp!!! I use it for absolutely everything!! I know it's just a Santoku knife but it's my new chefs knife. While I do have a couple of "nicer" more expensive knives, like shuns, macs, and masahiro. This is my all time favorite now! The grip, feel, and balance is excellent!! It's light weight like most Japanese knives. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you have a good quality steel "sharpening stick thingy" (FOR MOST NON KITCHEN PEOPLE) and run it through every time you use it!!!!! Like I said I work in a catering kitchen where I'm cutting stuff up all day every day and my knife still does not need to be sharpened. I run it a couple time through the steel and it's still as sharp (ok maybe just a itty bitty tiny almost none existent less sharp) as the first time I used it. This is my first Global knife and I'm hopeful they will all be just as good quality as this one and I will definitely be purchasing more of these soon!!! Click yes if this review was helpful. If not, or if you have a question, leave a comment and I'll answer you! *******OMIT the bad cabbage picture I was reviewing that bad ceramic knife which was horrible!! lol

Out of the Box super scharf
Mein erstes japanisches Kochmesser. Was soll ich sagen....
