Does what it is supposed to do
I needed a computer that would do net stuff and light computing. After looking at a couple of $300 dollar units I decided to spend a little more for this one.The first thing is you need to buy a computer for what you are going to use it for. As I said, all I needed was something to check emails, play some light internet games, watch Youtube and Netflix. This is fine for that. I don't think it is going to play a lot of Steam Games. This is a basic utility computer. Maybe a little on the high end of a utililty computer but that is ok.It comes with Windows 8 on it. I don't have trouble with the OS. I have been using computers a long time and Windows 8 is a lot better than the DOS days. You can go to the desktop and skip the Modern tile system if you want. No big deal.The keyboard and mouse are entry level devices. My keyboard does not sit flat on my desk. It has just a bit of wobble to it. I will probably use the keyboard from my old computer as the construction is better. The same with the mouse. It is a cheap mouse but will suffice until you get something a little better.All in all I am ok with this computer. My wife isn't complaining about it locking up like my dying computer was doing. My grandson can play his little games and watch videos. I get my heavy duty computer for more intensive operations all to myself again.I will let you know in 6 months how it is going... unless it dies before then.

Kind of disappointed with them {2}
Having problems with speed of computer have had all our lines tested and still having a slow response . Our old computers were twice as fast as these don't understand what the issue is, we had a computer specialist come out and check them but he is at a loss for understanding also. Kind of disappointed with them {2}.

Lasted almost a week
After 5 days, the video stopped working. The machine runs, but it won't connect to a monitor. I can get it to talk to the monitor when it runs the HP diagnostic tests, but that is all. I've been on a static-filled phone line to India, trying to understand their tech support person for the last two hours. No answers. They have me running another 2-hour test on the machine and then we are supposed to review the results.I told my kid not to buy an HP product, but would he listen to me? Noooooo. New rule in my house. If you buy HP, I am not going to help you with it.

Jury is still out, But so far so good
I haven't had the opportunity to explore everything this CPU has to offer just yet, but I've had it a little over a month & I still haven't taken the plastic off of the face of the CPU! From what I can tell, though, this is an ok computer. DVD player and CD writer works beautifully, just haven't had the chance to use the actual DVD writer. I'm having issues with one large Microsoft update installing and I'm hoping it's not because of the CPU. But I've talked to more than 8 Windows Techs and none of them can figure out why this one update won't install. Until I get this update installed, I'll have to give it 4 stars.

A good, inexpensive desktop
We had to replace my husband's desktop. Since he only uses it for emailing and going online, he doesn't need anything fancy, and would not enjoy a laptop or tablet. This one has everything he needs and didn't break the bank. It seems to run just fine, even though it has Windows 8, which I hate hate hate. I may upgrade him to Windows 10, which is somewhat of an improvement.

its ok
Computer works ok at times. I have started it and the screen was frozen, so I had to reboot. The processor is not as fast as I expected, but I might have been expecting too much. It is not HP problem, but some of the hardware such as my camcorder is not supported by Windows 8.1. Had some problems reloading other hardware as well. Had to do a lot of searching the internet for patches or downloads for the hardware.

Freezing up ... ????
Not sure why, but this computer seems to freeze up during internet searches.Not impressed so far.Hoping this is just a learning process for the user. lol

In Love With HP Pavilion!
Love the HP computers especially this one! So easy to set up, easy to use & yes, I love Windows 8.1! This came well packaged with no missing items. This is for the church so I was even able to download all the back up files from my passport ultra (external hard drive) with ease! My old HP hard drive was staring to crash & this is an upgrade, more memory, faster speed of operations and was delivered when promised. I have been on Windows 7 for many years & before that XP. To me, Windows 8.1 is easier to use.Thank you Amazon for a great buy!
