Waste of Money in the end
Very disappointed in this phone. I like slim phones so this seemed like the perfect choice. Everyhing went well with the phone until after a year and a half it started to turn itself off when people called or in the middle of a phone call. You need a phone so you can talk to people and as this phone finds it difficult to fulfil the basic function of a phone all the fancy stuff has no value.

I want my w800 back!
If it aint broke, don't try and fix it. I had a w800 for two years and it was the best phone I ever had. Great camera, great music player, flawless reliability despite some pretty rough treatment. But on the spur of the moment I upgraded to the 880i and gave my old handset away. I thought it would be everything the 800 was, but with even better looks and features. After my initial disappointment at the lack of a light and at having to buy another memory card (the cards for the 800 had the advantage that they fitted into my laptop card reader and could be used in my sony camera) I got used to the fiddly buttons. The software it came with seemed even more riddled with bugs than the previous lot - a bit of a problem since you can't just stick the memory card into the laptop and need to interface with disc2phone to update music. I got so frustrated with the software and the phone crashing all the time that I actually resorted to violence and accidentally broke my hard drive - which was costly! Then the turning off started. The most common time for it to turn off was when I put it down at night to go to bed - a bit of a problem since it didn't turn itself on again for the alarm. I sent it back before Christmas, waited a week and got it back with the promise that all was well. A couple of months on, the turning off began again and was coupled with more regular crashing and losing network. Off it went to the repairers again, this time returned with a note to say that they had fixed the volume switch. Hadn't even noticed it was broken!I have it returned now (minus two games I have paid for and several hours of my life). It doesn't turn itself off at the moment - with the exception of when I try to use the file transfer mode, at which point it turns itself off and on again in a repeated cycle. Have discovered a piece of software called myphoneexplorer that I can use but it doesn't beat actually being able to insert the card. Overall a big disappointment and I am seriously considering buying back the w800.

Very good little handset
First of all, it IS a good phone, dont get me wrong, it packs a punch for such a slim size, although its not the thickness of a credit card, you aint gonna find a thinner one out there. Despite this it does feel sturdy and that it wont snap in half. The stainless steel casing is a great addition, as it cools and initial fears. The walkman feature is good, and no, it isnt brilliant sound, but this is a phone firstly. The buttons are a little small for me, but you get used to the feeling. One problem I have encountered is that the handset turns itself off by itself alot, or from the smallest knock, and mine isnt alone in this, my partner and many friends have the same problem, I've even sent it back for repair and it still persists. The camera is good (2MP) but lacks a focus and a light, but bear in mind this is a walkman not a cybershot. All in all, I'd give it 6/10, because it doesnt really do anything more than the norm, its just slimmed. The major drawback being the switching off problem.

A Great Little Phone
I bought this phone first and foremost as a phone and for that it's just fine. I love its compact size and great battery life for such a small phone. despite the small buttons, the raised ridges on them mean that even with fat male fingers, I have no problem with either dialling or texting. I already own a K800i as well and this is just as easy to use. Of course, it's not as feature-rich, but that's reflected in the price. If I want good photos I have a digital camera, but for capturing the occasional 'unforgettable moment' (as long as it's daylight) it's fine. For my journey by bus to work, it means that I can listen to some music to pass the time and the 1Gb supplied memory card means I can store enough favourites to stop me getting bored. Personally, I love it.

High on style and on bugs!
This phone looks great and is generally everything i wanted in a phone so it's a shame it is so faulty. The phone keeps switching itself off. Repeatedly. Sometimes it'll take 3 attempts just to send a single text message. I thought i was just unlucky but then i started asking my friends who also have this phone and to my surprise they are suffering the same problem. A quick search on google revealed that a lot of people are having the same problem and not getting any joy out of either SonyEricsson or their service operator.I highly recommend you don't buy this phone but if you do really want it, i'll sell you mine at a discount!

Unreliable and fiddly
Does have a sleek and compact look but difficult to handle because of the fiddly buttons. More importantly, it switches itself off randomly (happened about 8 times in 2weeks). To cap it all, it changed its own settings and lost a few wallpapers just for fun. Cant comment much on the music player and camera as I'm not a big user. In short, avoid.

Excellent phone for multple usage
Purchased this phone primarily for the mp3 facility and to date have not been disappointed. I also required a diary option as the old grey matter is fading and this is also of great use.Have not experienced the same problems as others and after 1 year am completely satisfied.
