Im Original ist dieses Schneckenrad eine Sollbruchstelle (nicht ohne Grund) und dadurch auch die größte Schwachstelle und das Verschleißteil Nummer 1. Aus diesem Grund haben wir in unserer Maschine, einen angepassten Motorschutzschalter montiert. Leider sind die Zahnflanken des Ersatzproduktes sichtbar nicht evolvent >gegossen<. Resultierend daraus funktioniert der Umbau mit dem alternativen Überlastschutz zwar, die Geräuschkulisse ist jedoch mit einem drehehnden Eimer Schrauben vergleichbar… Würde es dieses Produkt aus normgerechter passgenauer spanender Produktion (z.B. aus Messing) geben, hätte es viele Fans!

Update March 2026: I’ve been using my KitchenAid Artisan mixer with this replacement gear for nearly a year now, and it is still working like a charm. Ease of Installation & Fit: My husband helped me install this, and we were both impressed with the perfect fit. It lined up exactly like the OEM part, making the installation straightforward and much easier than we expected for a mechanical repair. Durability & Sturdiness: I was relieved to see that this gear is made of metal rather than the traditional plastic. It feels incredibly sturdy, and after a year of handling heavy bread doughs, the durability has been proven. It hasn't slipped once. Noise Level: One of the best parts is the noise level. Worked perfect for our kitchen Aid. We have the 5qt tilt head and the worm gear busted pretty early on. Valve for the cost was worth it for sure. Just make sure you buy the food safe grease and you’re set.

Feb 12, 2026 - Sad to report that while whipping some mashed potatoes the plastic bearing that I was concerned about melted (See first photo) creating excess clearance between the motor shaft and the metal worm gear causing the metal gear to strip (See second photo). Unit was not lacking in the specified food grade white grease and no other bearings were sloppy. Will now clean out all the grease that now is full of metal shavings and inspect for collateral damage and then refurbish this mixer again. This gearset with its sloppy low grade plastic bushing is only good for occasional light use at low speed and light loads for short duration mixing. Running it to the full 10 minute high load capacity of the mixer will cause it to self destruct with potential for much more collateral damage than the plastic gear in the original gear tower with its Oilite Bronze Bearings. Bottom line a good idea carried out badly. Original review below for historical reference: Casting was better than the HSJAWA and did not requiring machining to make it fit. Bearings were unfortunately plastic and sloppy plus an additional shim had to be installed above the worm gear to maintain its alignment with the motor shaft and the pinion gears alignment with the driven gear on the planetary drive shaft. Without shimming the shaft slid up resulting in only partial engagement with the mating gears. With the added shim it worked well and passed initial testing making a 6 cup batch of whole red wheat bread dough for a 3 lb loaf without stripping. Noise level was a little higher than with the plastic gear which was not extremely noticeable until heavily loaded such as when making the maximum size batch of bread dough. If the bearings had actually matched the diameter of the shaft and the assembly properly shimmed to maintain proper gear alignment without the need for modification this would have been a 4 star review plus if in addition to that the bearings had been sintered/Oilite bronze instead of plastic this would have been a 5 star review.
