Shining Resonance Refrain: Draconic Launch Edition (Nintendo Switch)

I've only been so hyped about a game a few times in my life that I pre-order it, which I did for SRR. It looked incredible, I loved the character designs, the music theme, the presence of dragons (just not pointy ears....sorry elves) and I only did part of the demo because I wanted to save my experience for the game itself. It arrived on or maybe 1 day before release day (can't quite remember) so go Amazon for getting it to me in time.I absolutely love the different outfits the characters have (there are way too many swimsuits for the girls which I don't like), the use of instruments as weapons which can be customised by learning various skills that can aid you in battle. The ability to switch which character you use both in battle and in the field makes it easy to make sure your party can be healed before they die. I haven't yet figured out how to properly use the controls where you can change what the party does, or what individual characters that you don't control in battle, but that will come with time. The story is fairly good so far, minus my dislike of Yuma. The characters that do speak add to the story.Time for what I don't like. I didn't realise there was only 1 town in the entire game - I love exploring towns! I love exploring houses and shops, which you simply don't get to do. You go to a shop by talking with the owner in front of their house. Big disappointment. Ditto the annoyance that a lot of NPCs say nothing - not even hello. And you can walk right through animals as if they were ghosts. These are all reasons why I usually love JRPGs so much, seeing different architecture, enjoying various shop layouts.Apart from those negatives, overall I am enjoying the game a lot, it's just not quite as stellar as I'd hoped. Fulfilling quests so far has been easy because I'm the kind of gamer who likes to kill all monsters in an area instead of dashing past them, which takes time but means I often can get the items I need for quests without realising it.Oh, you can't save whenever you want. Unlike a fair number of new JRPGs, you save at save points. There is one in town, and usually 1 outside the town in a couple of areas - remember this is a release of the PS3 Japanese game which never made it outside of Japan, so maybe that's why the saving system reminds me of Final Fantasy save points.

Really good story from start to finish. The combat can get a little repetitive but that depends on home much material grinding you plan on doing. If you plan on just playing the game for the story playthrough then you won't be disappointed. Excellent colours and music used throughout the game. I really enjoyed playing this on and it is definitely memorable. A beautiful game! and you get to play as a dragon! Perfect

Bought as a present so can't comment on the game itself. Did arrive in time for the present, just lol, so pleased.

Just such a great JRPG and pretty good on the Switch meaning you can just come back to it later on sleep mode. A lovely dungeon crawling feature in it which I love as you can mix and match gems giving different monsters and items which is great fun. Would recommend to anyone who likes action JRPG and dragons lots of them :3

It's ok as a filler game. There's only one town in it. The plot is fairly generic. Characters are passable. This game is ok but doesn't live up to any hype. I'm waiting for Tales of Vesperia and DragonQuest - actual decent RPGs.

Son loved this game and clocked in in a few days. Now to find a harder game for him to play

The steel case is well-made and I like the design and art on both sides. The game itself is also really good looking. 5 stars from me.

The case was metalic and the whole packaging of the product was amazing! Also it came in time!
