2016 tips were not acceptable - 2019 OK so far
Update Feb 2020It's been six months and the new tip is doing well. The tread is worn smooth - that's pretty much normal. We'll see how long it takes to wear all the way through.Update Aug 2019After reading the most recent reviews I decided to take a chance on these again even after the total failure of them three years ago. Why? Because I liked the original ones several years ago and the alternatives I've tried since 2016 have not been very good. The new ones arrived in early July and I put one on my daily cane immediately. In the past month we did a driving trip to Arizona and I did a lot of walking on rocks, sand, gravel and concrete. The tip is in great shape, basically just broken in. I'm happy. Either the tips I got in 2016 were seriously defective or Komperdell has gone back to their older compound. Whichever is the case, these new tips appear to be as good as the much older ones from years ago. I'm happy so far. Will update if needed.Original review - Oct 2016I began using my first Komperdell Walker Antishock cane full time in mid 2007 as walking became more and more difficult. The original tip on it wore out in about a year because the end of the cane chewed its way down through the tip. When I replaced it, I put a #6 flat washer in the bottom of the hole which eliminated that problem. [see picture] I've since learned that some of the cane tip makers include a washer molded into the tip for this same purpose. Komperdell still does not.I now get 2-3 years of heavy, full time use from one cane tip. I bought the last batch of several Komperdell tips of few years ago. In August of this year, I wore through another one and discovered I had only one spare left. I put it on the cane and ordered more from Amazon.I read the reviews when I ordered them and was concerned about the number of bad reports. So when they arrived I removed the spare that had been on my daily use cane for a couple weeks and carefully put one of the new ones on, having read of several instances of them splitting. It is now six weeks later. You can see the condition.see picturetips 1,2 and 3 are from the last batch I purchased a few years ago.tips 4 and 5 were received from Amazon mid August this year (2016).Number 1 is the one I just removed after 2-3 years of heavy, everyday use. I got the very last bit of use out of it.Number 2 is on a spare cane I keep in the family car. I use it when on trips and vacations where a lot of walking is involved. I walk with two canes then. So this cane has many miles on it over the last few years, but not daily use. As you can see the tread is worn smooth but it's otherwise still good.Number 3 is the old batch spare that was on the cane for a couple weeks while waiting for the new ones from Amazon. Basically it's just dirty.Number 4 is the unused one from the pair just received from Amazon in August.Number 5 is the other of that new pair. It's been on the cane since the end of August, about 6 weeks. It is totally shot. The skin over the "tread" wore and shredded off in less than two weeks. It then began to split a few days later. There is no way to know how Komperdell has changed the "rubber" compound used to make these tips but whatever the change was, they need to go back to the older formula. The new tips are, to be charitable, rubbish. I'll be looking at tips from other makers as these are no longer acceptable.I rated these 1 Star only because there is no 0 Star choice.

They fit!
The 8mm tips is what I needed for my hiking poles. Do not blindly assume that tips will fit your poles. You must measure and buy the correct size. I’m very satisfied with my purchase.

Quick delivery via USPO to my mailbox. These tips are the best. Second time purchased.
I love the Komperdell Walking Stick and these tips are the original issue that came with the cane. I wore out the original tips, ordered and wore out one more, then broke my cane (my fault: grabbed it in the dark and tried to adjust it before I hit the floor with it while it was beyond its range setting and broke it. Komperdell fixed it no charge, even while I admitted guilt). Anyway these tips are solid on the ground and I rarely take them off, even when I'm off roading. They have a metal washer inside which helps them wear longer, however the metal tip will poke through eventually. Just order these and you're good to go.

Best pole tips I've found
I've gone through several sets of these in the last 30 years; the design hasn't changed. They work really well in all terrain, especially on rock, and they're more streamlined than the heavier, bulkier Leki pole tips. Also, because they're lighter, they have less "swing weight" at the pole tip than the heavier Leki tips, so the poles feel easier to move quickly. Because they're more streamlined than Leki tips, they don't get snagged and pulled off (and lost) as often in talus, mud or ice crust as other tips. I feel the end shape grips better in steep terrain than other brands of pole tips I've tried, and I've found no negatives to complain of.

Better than clicking
We put these tips on our poles and took off walking on the Coast to Coast Trail in the UK. They were wonderful. Then my wife and I took trains to Winchester and headed off on the South Downs Way. The poles were a godsend and the tips showed little wear. Then we flew to Porto, Portugal and started ten days of walking on the Portuguese Camino to Santiago, Spain. Best part of this: when we walked through a town, I could continue to use my poles because they didn't click on the cobblestones. They are stored in the basement now, awaiting the next trip. Don't know how long they'll last, but they aren't finished yet, after about 450 recent miles.

The one you want
If you have a Komperdell stick (8mm) these are the tips you want. I went with a "less expensive" brand and the tips literally wore out in 8-10 hikes. I'm back with the manufacturer's replacements and I have a tip that will last 46-60 hikes.
