Have been using these in a gravity filter for over 20 years, decided to change them out. Our water was tested by A&M university and there is nothing in our water but water so they work.

The simple gravity filter is an economical and effective way to purify water, and these are durable, quality candles. I would recommend, however, to run 3-5 gallons through the filters before putting them into service. When installing, make sure to apply considerable torque on the washer and seal, as it tends to leak unpurified water if the seal is not very tight.

These candles filter out a plethora of junk! We filter all our drinking and cooking water through these filters because we have high iron content in our well water. It works awesome, just takes some forethought and planning ahead! These fit in our Berkey Light setups, and these candles are superior to the Berkey products. We have used these for 7 years now and will only use this exact filter after trying the other options!

Mine did not come with the wing nut which is a pain in the butt because it can not be purchased locally. Brotish thread and nylon. Add $8 plus shipping for a little wing nut that is necessary for use.

They did not include the nut necessary to install the cartridge. Eight dollars later I have the cheap plastic nut through Amazon.

The two units purify my drinking water very well. They are the only units I use and love them.

It was not that clear that this product did not come with the plastic nut piece that screws onto post to help hold it in place. I was making a filter system out of 2 stainless stock pots as seen in videos but this filter did not come the plastic nut to screw it into place. Why not ? After doing the research I see that this filter was made to go into a filtering system that does not require that piece. This was confusing people who purchased this item . I cannot till this day find a plastic nut that would fit this at any hardware store. And it is an expensive piece. I only wanted food grade plastic as this would be used for emergency drinking water. So as of now I cannot use this ceramic filter to rate it accurately for flavor or use. I'm still looking for a Nut that would fit the size of this post on the Ceramic filter.
