Breyer Totilas Traditional Size
A word to the wise first; this is not the perfect "toy" for everyone. Breyer's break if handled too roughly; I have several from long ago with broken legs due to play. I am never entirely sure what Amazon is thinking by placing them in the Toy category, except it's the only place they can think of. Anyways, on to the actual product!Totilas is a new mold from Breyer and it fits the horse perfectly. This model is simply gorgeous. Totilas is a beautiful black with just enough chrome to make him flashy. I assume that he matches the real horse- never seen him in person, just photos. The product photo does not show it; but he comes with a circle stand under the left foreleg- I had been concerned when I ordered because he would otherwise tip over. Because of the stand I would argue even more for Totilas not being a toy- the peg from the stand I had for Salinero snapped off in the hoof. He's a little rocky; the peg does not extend all the way up on mine so he's a little off balance. His right foreleg, while beautifully extended, is also an area I'm concerned over- and he's on display only.I'd been waiting for him ever since he was announced and I'm so glad to have him, he will really add to any collection. The mold itself is wonderful- the shape the horse is in for those confused by that term- and hopefully Breyer will make more from this mold- and soon!

Beautiful mold, beautiful horse
I agree with other reviewers that this is a great horse. I bought some of their other releases earlier in the year from Amazon and was really thrilled with the paint jobs on those. I wasn't originally interested in Totilas, but for this unbeatable price I couldn't resist grabbing Totilas and I am glad I did! I can now see what the hype is about and why people were excited when he came out. His socks, star and snip are just beautiful; they are getting really good at making that technique super crisp and clean (in years past some of these edges were smudged but they seem to have fixed that quality control issue for new models). His coloration is fairly plain, but I think he is handsome nonetheless. I love the sculpting on him, they really nailed the mane/tail detail and his pose is gorgeous.

It's Okay
This is a beautiful horse, however the one I got doesn't stand up correctly on the stand, very unstable.

and I really do love this horse
I actually got Totilas quite a while ago, and I really do love this horse. The sculpture itself is beautiful. It has individual wrinkles in its neck and some adorable braids. Even though he's not the most versatile performance horse, he would be a perfect dressage horse. He shows great for me as a Dutch Warmblood and I know others who show him as a German Warmblood with the same success. His black coat is just matte black, not pearly, and he's not one of those horses, where his black coat becomes red-ish under direct sunlight. It makes him much easier to repair if you were to get a paint chip on him. I personally don't have this problem on him, but I have seen some models where his face is very slightly offset, so you do have to be cautious of that. He will not stand on carpet and he can be a bit tippy at times, so I would not recommend him as a play horse at all.Overall, great show horse or shelf horse, I just wouldn't use him for play.

One of my favorite Breyers due to its realism
This is truly a beautiful Breyer. As an artist, I use traditional Breyers as drawing references, so I choose the models (molds?) that are the most realistic. This one takes the cake - lots of beautiful details, such as the braided mane, hair strands in the tail, the outstretched limbs of the Spanish walk, and rippling muscles in the neck and shoulders. The black paint has a lovely sheen to it (NOT super-shiny, which one of the stock pictures here seems to indicate). This model does need the (included) clear plastic stand to stay upright, though mine is a tiny bit wobbly even with the stand - I just have to be careful when moving him. No box rubs or scratches - perfect straight out of the box. A lovely model that any equine admirer would enjoy. Very much worth the money.

Beautiful horse from Breyer
I love this new sculpture from Breyer! I wasn't sure that I would, as I don't tend to like models that are on a stand, but I finally bought him and I was not disappointed. He has excellent detail, especially in his face. He seems to be a bit on the large side of Traditional. He tilts slightly, and I don't know if that is just my particular model. Also I was worried that it would be difficult to fit tack to him, but it really is not too hard. His pose is lovely and he is a really nice addition to my barn! Now I just need to think of a good name for him...

Toto, I miss you...
It's Totilas. If you don't love him, don't buy it, but if you do love him, read on. Breyer's usual attention to detail is maintained with this little figurine. Even down to the white rim around his eye that comes from Kostolany. His notorious slightly less than ideal weakness in the hind end is also plainly visible, but if you're like me and enjoy the thrill of watching the undeniably fantastic stallion, it's a side note. Enjoy the horse for what he was with Gal, hopefully will be again with Rath, and always is in our imaginations and memories with the help of the Breyer model. It's worth it.
