This works really well. It can be a bit finnickey to get started properly sometimes and the yarn will fall off, but that's a me problem I think because even with my manual winder that wasn't great I had the same problem with it. The cakes that come out of this are uniform and feel nice and sturdy. I'm currently working on a hoodie and the 3 colors I'm using for it wound up really nice from the existing center pull skein. It's just easier to store, transport, and keep track of cakes for me versus skeins. The skeins get messy.This does go pretty fast but as the cake gets bigger it does slow down considerably. But overall worth it if you want to kind of get it going and be hands off.

Disclaimer - I've just used it once, so I will come back and update if my opinion changes after multiple uses. But - I've always said the best thing I've ever bought was my yarn swift. This ball winder comes very close, and the two together are just wonderful! I took care that the hank I was winding was organized neatly on the swift, thread the yarn into the winder, and a few minutes later, I lovely cake was made! Very happy with this purchase. So far. :)

My wife said she really wanted to love this and she did when it worked correctly. Too often it would start wrapping in a single line instead of creating the “ball”. She returned this and purchased a manual one and is really happy with it.

Does the job of winding your yarn. It's not very fast, but at least you don't have to do it by hand!

works good, when it doesn't come apart from motor even at lowest speeds. After first couple cakes, came apart on bottom from motor. Super glued it, worked for a couple weeks, then came apart again. Attempting second super glue to function but looking at replacement options.

The media could not be loaded. As you can see from the video, it kinda works. I was doing a ball of sock yarn, and once I got the swift moving, the winder could kinda keep it going, but it would stop when the swift slowed down - it couldn’t keep turning. I would have to turn it off, and turn it back on while moving the swift by hand. The swift wasn’t the issue, it moved freely. The winder just didn’t have enough juice. If it can’t handle even sock yarn, can’t imagine how it will handle DK or worsted. Not a quality product, definitely not a good value for what you’re paying for. Really disappointing lack of power, speed and overall performance.
