Amazing biopic
I’m not a huge fashion follower but I always enjoy biographies about interesting people. Alexander McQueen really broke the mould and I was captivated by this from start to finish. It tells his story from a working class London background, low academic achiever but a passion for drawing and design. From a first tentative foot in Savile Row, McQueen went on to become one of the most lauded and controversial designers of the 21 st century. He was a man who had it all; his own label, work with Givenchy and Gucci, money, fame and more. But he was deeply troubled and with compelling insight from those closet to him, we learn what drove him and the demons that hounded him.I was gripped from start to finish. Honest, tragic and one I’ll watch again.

English Couture
The documentary of this haute couture designer, from a working-class background, who burst on the scene in his early twenties and wowed the world of fashion, is lively and full of fine detail and personal stories. It is a rags-to-riches story ending in tragedy. There are extracts from several of his stunning shows, as well as film of him working. The story of a 'punk' who ends up creative director of the Paris fashion house Givenchy. A must-have for anyone's library of fashion DVDs.

A Legacy to the World’s Best Fashion Artist— Tragedy in Beauty or Vice-Versa.
Thus documentary is a tribute to one of our most under rated modern artists— Alexander McQueen. From a working class background, McQueen emerged as a leading fashion innovator, eventually leading Givenchy and Gucci. But, it is not fashion design— it is ART. Famous for skulls, butterflies and flowers, McQueen could appreciate beauty in gothic terror and the macabre. He mixed with the elite, rich & famous, as well as the common man. He was gay, emotional, creative, empathic, diligent, and sometimes angry. This documentary presents his rawness and sophistication — moreover it presents him as an artist turn into shreds by the business world and critique of his soul. Needless to state, he tragically committed suicide. The soundtrack, sourced from Nyman, complements this emotional movie. A wonderful legacy to the world’s best “fashion” artist.
