Powell Mission Oak Cheval Mirror

The first mirror was broken but I think that was the shippers fault. Replacement wasn't a problem. As far as the mirror goes it's really nice. Real oak wood. Went together really easy. Stands sturdy and adjusts easily. Am not disappointed at all in any aspect. The grids on the mirror are permanent so be sure you like that style.

This is a simple, uncomplicated piece to assemble.The room I put it in seems larger now.One thing to tell the manufacturer- stop putting masking tape on the mirror.The adhesive gum is not easy to remove. Took longer to get the tape goo offthan it took to put the thing together.

The woodwork is very pretty and exactly what I was hoping for; however, the mirror itself is terrible. It is one of those mirrors that makes you look short and squatty (like if you bought a cheap plastic mirrors from Walmart). I had an oral cheval mirror which worked great; however, I was looking for a nice one to match our bedroom set and ordered this one. I was very disappointed to pay the price I did to have a mirror that I don't want to use. It is okay if you stand within about 12 inches of it, but after that the image is very distorted and disappointing. Would definitely not recommend purchasing.

I love the look of this mirror. It is study and feels well made. My box came damaged and the mirror had minor damage, but I liked it so much I didn't want to wait for a replacement, if that was available.

The mirror and surrounding wood were as expected. The wood over the mirror was not attached, it was free-floating. We had to buy special glue to attach it. Before we could glue the wood to the mirror it had started to warp. This part of the whole package was flimsy. If you are handy you may want to buy this, otherwise steer clear.

This mirror arrived quickly on my doorstep with no problem. It is a nice piece of furniture and I was really pleased as I took it out of the box. It does require assembly, which is the problem.As is the norm these days with everything I have bought that is made in China, the hardware is cheap and doesn't fit right. The screws are too long so that the base doesn't tighten enough to be stable and the metal is so soft that I very easily stripped the screw heads (and I am not a very strong person, so this is just silly). I need to go to the hardware store to pick up new hardware for it. Since my husband is out of town for 3 months and I work full time and have an 8 month old, that is unlikely to happen any time soon. So, the mirror is propped against the the wall and will likely stay that way for the next few months until I'll have time to replace the cheap hardware. It's a pretty mirror though.UPDATE: five years later... I can hardly remember the annoyance at putting this together. I really like the mirror -- it has held up well and still looks lovely. I do recomment it.

The first time I ordered this mirror, something went wrong with shipping. I cancelled the original order and reordered the mirror. It arrived within a few days of reordering. Assembly was easy and the quality is first-class.
