So far so good.
First off. This is NOT 'real black' or even 'solid black'... It is black to our eyes yes... But IR light or normal LED light for that matter, shines right through this stuff. Its alot like those black trash bags. Its black and solid, but its shiny and translucent to light transfer. I bought this stuff because I wanted something tougher than PLA for my printer parts, but also opaque so that It can interrupt the optical end stops. So people know, this stuff will NOT trigger an optical end stop. The IR light goes right through it...Now with that said...This PETG has been THE BEST PETG I have currently printed with. I have used 3D Solutech's Translucent Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red, and have continued to use them because of the quality of prints I can get out of them. BUT they usually are heavily stringy. Less so now that I've been able to get the retraction and such dialed in. But this 'Real Black' filament? I have ZERO stringing. Bridging is 3 times better than the other colors. I was able to print my cable chain pats and NOT have to heat them back up with a hot air gun to get the strings off. The overhang that 'traps' the cables in place printed without any droops too. Which I wasn't able to accomplish with the other colors.I will definitely be buying more of this. I just wish that IR didn't pass through it so easily... But nothing a single strip of Electrical Tape didn't cure. It fits alittle more snugly inside the endstops than I'd like, but I can just make the 'flags' alittle thinner to accommidate the piece of tape for now. At least until I can maybe find a sample of some black filament else where that'd be enough to print the two tiny flags.

Brittle when Printed
This is the first product I've recieved from 3D Solutech that has been disappointing at best. I've used their yellow PETG and it is amazing, Hard as steel with the correct slicer settings. This is proving to be brittle when printed. The interlayer adhesion is excellent all the way down to 200 degrees but after letting the part cool you can snap it in half. It's not breaking along the layer lines, it just snaps like a piece of glass. I use PETG for almost all of my prints due to the 'expected' strength and this product is lacking this characteristic. I'll be looking for a different manufacturer of Black PETG but I'll continue to use their yellow PETG as well as their PLA that I've had good luck with.Pros:InexpensivePrints at lower temps than most PETG productsGood looking finishExcellent inter-layer adhesionCons:Brittle when printed (out weighs all of the above Pros)

Prints fine, but a very unflattering variable shine to it.
Even very well bonded and great looking prints that were white seem to really look pretty bad with this black filament. It does that thing where the slightest variance of angle or texture - even speed - changes the color from an epic shiny polished black, to another color and sheen on it's spectrum.. At worst a dull dark charcoal gray. You can see it in peoples sample photos, that they seem quite happy with.. But I find it annoying. The print strength is fine. The prints themselves are fine too, if a little brittle, but that aspect is very unflattering to prints that aren't going to be painted. You can see every single layer. The white is considerably better in this regard.*edit*Just to note that in trying some 'Overture' brand black petg, with a slightly higher printing temp, has way less color variation and produces extruded plastic that is SO much more flexible than this one, and subsequently will make for harder wearing less breakable prints. A little more like ABS.I would recommend you compare the two. This one isn't quite right.

Prints look terrible
I wanted to like this for one reason it states that it's a USA made product. No matter what temp I used between the stated 205-220c it would it make a decent print. Tried different printing speeds, retraction speeds, retraction and about every temp between 205c & 220c. Also tried different bed temps. Looking at it looked like an under extrusion problem, yet my Wanhao Duplicator i3 Plus prints PLA just fine. Seems odd to me that normal PETG prints from 230-260c and this is suppose to print at much lower temp. It would glob on the nozzle then bump into the piece and cause layer misalignment. As much as I wanted to support a USA product I won't be buying Solutech PETG again. terrable

This is now my Go-To PETG!
You would think that printing PETG at a lower temperature would create a brittle product, but not here.Personally, I run this at 235 C on a CR-10s and it produces perfect prints.Like all PETG, there is some stringing, but nothing a few minutes of cleanup can't handle.A fresh layer of purple glue stick on the build surface and there are no problems with bed adhesion.I would advise enabling support brim if you have a lot of support for your print to keep the support stable.I am on my fourth spool and this is now my brand of choice for PETG.

what an improvement over ABS or PLA
I use this in my CUBE 3D printer spoofing an ABS cartridge and it seems to work almost flawlessly printing under ABS specs. I use the recommended hair spray for glue on my orange build pad and completed projects usually "POP" off; larger projects are run under hot water to soften the hairsprays glue. I've used a full roll of light blue. Currently using transparent. Have a roll of black to use when the transparent runs out. No moisture problems. Just leave it on the printer and it is ready to go whenever you are whether it is a few minutes or weeks.

This can't be PETG
Temp range is more like PLA than PETG and is not listed on the spool. You have to go to company website to find it. It does not adhere to bed well, despite liberal use of bed weld. The part produced is of low appearance quality and VERY brittle. This stuff is basically unusable. I printed a full spool of a competitor product with ZERO issues on same parts. I gave up on this junk after 2 failures. Will not purchase from this company again.
