I work in an office where the winter heating is a bit lackluster and the summer AC overambitious, so I'm always looking for cute, professional cardigans I can throw over a blouse or knit top. At first, it seemed like this one had much to recommend it. I'm a 38G, so I know from experience that nice long V-neck like this is super flattering for busty figures And I thought the white piping and gold buttons would add a fun touch.Sadly, in person, it didn't quite deliver. Oh, the fabric is really quite nice, although a bit heavier than I was expecting. If you're looking for a light summer cardi, this is probably not the best choice. Nor is it heavy enough for winter, so I'd recommend it for fall and spring transitional weather only. The color (I received blue) is also very nice, with just a tiny hint of teal. The stitching is high quality, no issues with holes or trims coming loose. The sweater, when washed on cool and hung to dry, performed beautifully and looked like new. No color bleeding or pilling so far.What I didn't like was the fit. It was an overall good length for my height (5'7"), hitting just at the top of my thigh, and the sleeves were neither too short nor too long. But even with an XL, I couldn't get it buttoned, sigh. As aforementioned, I'm quite busty, so that may be the issue. But I rarely have that problem with this size. The shoulders and sleeves fit quite well so I will probably keep it to wear as an open cardi only; I haven't decided that yet. But it was still a disappointment.Another issue I had was the white piping. It edges the hem both in front and in back, which will probably work just fine for most people. If you wear light colored pants it's probably no issue at all. For me though, a habitual dark jeans and black pants wearer, having that line of bright white right under my butt in the back calls attention to an area I really don't want attention called to (at least, not at work.) Your mileage may vary, but I wish the manufacturer had kept this detail away from the back hem.The main thing I have issues with, though, is the buttons. They are the cheapest, lightest weight, tackiest looking things imaginable. If I do keep this, I will definitely be swapping them out.So, as I said, mixed feelings. Apart from the buttons, this is a high-quality sweater, so if the fit and styling work for you I'd definitely say go for it. But for me, it's not a home run.
