**revised update**AWESOME! I feel like an Arabian raider when using this thing!
Ever dream of being a pirate sailing the seven seas? Are you secretly hoping for a real life zombie epedemic? Do you enjoy scaring your co workers? Would you like to be held at gunpoint by your local sheriffs? Well if so,buy this knife and whip it out every chance you get. Im sure youll have one or more of your desires granted eventually. This thing is...WICKED ! But even though it looks like a movie prop, its actually a really well designed, well made and imminently useful tool.Ultra comfortable, ridiculously grippy, extremely strong, very smooth and functional. The blade opens smoothly. The G-10 frame is unbelievably strong, stiff and light. Balance is superb.lightweight. Do NOT hesitate to purchase if like me,your concerned about the new Cold Steel knives without steel liners in the frame. These are STRONGER than steel framed knives! The tri-ad lock is unquestionably the strongest in the industry. Unlocking takes some strength but the tradeoff is the undeniable strength and durability. The pocket clip is strong, secure.the G-10 grip will schred pockets if you dont modify it.see youtube for details.Just a fantastic knife in every respect. Extremely highly recommended. Will make the ultimate tactical tool and an excellent utility, outdoorsmans blade. This is the one i want if God forbid,i ever have to defend my life with a knife. Excellence all around.AND it scares women and children!Gets my vote for the best Bond villain terror tool.** update feb 1,2016,and again on mar 5,2016**Ive owned and carried this baby a while now and wanted to update and provide a bit more info about it.Revised-All has been great with "the beast" as i call it. Its a really great design and well made. Obviously this is a fighter plain and simple and it performs perfectly in this role. One of the best tactical knives in my collection and this is the primary intended use for this knife but like most knives,it can be pressed to serve in roles outside its intended use. And it does a pretty good job at most tasks including outdoor, camp, bushcraft type tasks. My original update stated that its not the greatest wilderness tool,a statement im retracting now after i spent a couple days with it in the mountains. It performed admirably. The super comfortable but down raked grip and upswept blade that at first gave me concern when considering its use as an outdoorsmans knife performed fantastically! No its not the optimum handle shape or geometry, nor is the blade, but let me tell you,i was shocked at how competent it actually was.Ive spent hours straight processing and carving wood for tools and implements and not only did i accomplish every task attempted,it did so with a remarkable level of comfort. Everything from battoning 2"+ and splitting 3.5" hardwood for fire,to carving spindles, fireboards, figure 4 trap components and eating utensils were made quickly and easily. Much, much better than expected and better than alot of purpose built woods knives. The handle was excellent.the aus 8a blade steel performed well and held its edge quite nicely. Long enough to make it thru one or two days of constant bushcraft use without sharpening. I call that very good to excellent. The super strong tri-ad lock system held up to everything i could dish out without a whimper. Unlocking takes some effort but its a worthwhile tradeoff for the undeniable strength of the lock. Beyond excellent, its the best there is!The blade pivot is very smooth but the heavy tension of the lock makes it somewhat more difficult to open than most. And Im not crazy about the thumbplate opener and would prefer a large diameter, knurled thumbstud. And i have no use for the "wave" auto opening from pocket feature of it. But the thumbplate does work reliably and offers a nice thumb rest. With a firm flick the blade flies open ,locks solidly and is ready for use in a flash. It simply takes a bit more effort. Considering all the pluses this minor minus is negligeable. Excellent action overall.I am so inpressed with this knife and my rajah 3 i also recently purchased. I was hesitant to buy any of the new Cold Steel knives because of their linerless, all G-10 construction on most models, feeling it just couldnt be as strong as steel liner construction. Boy was i wrong! Trust me,these things are STRONG,TOUGH and LIGHT! It really is a revelation. And although the tri-ad lock does make operation slightly more high-effort,it is perfectly acceptable and most will never have issue with it. Btw some models are every bit as smooth and light as some high-end liner/frame locks. My rajah 3 ranks in the top 10 of my collection as far as how light and smooth its action is.Anyway, these new Cold Steel knives are outstanding and i can think of no practical reason to even look beyond their new model lineup. They really are THAT good! You can find everything you need within the pages of the 2016 catalog. And for the talwar,BUY it! It will be one of the best tacticals you can buy at any price and can do just about anything you may need it to do. An awesome knife in all respects and one that finds its way in my pocket more and more as i get to know its limitless capabilities.

Perfect medium EDC
Bought it from Red's Gear. Fast shipping, perfect item. I've had it for 2 months, it came with an additional (left handed) pocket clip, in perfect condition. About the knife, I cannot get tired of looking at it and play with it when I get the chance, the lines, design and presence of this knife is outstanding, beautiful and intimidating, although is not the biggest one of its kind is a really intimidating knife. I've been using it daily for a variety of tasks, cardboard cutting (very often), meat cutting, pencil sharpener (when needed) an other house and work utility, it performs great. The Tri-Ad lock mechanism makes me feel secure about the amount of hard use this knife can take, although I haven't had the need of a hard use task that could make a challenge for this knife. The "wave" mechanism performance is absolutely outstanding, it has never failed, of course with the G10 handle is a pocket shredder, but wouldn't change a thing on this handle, it gives a perfect grip. Out of the box was extremely sharp, although it doesn't hold the edge for too long, in fact the only thing I would like to change about this knife would be the steel, AUS8 is good in many ways (affordability - quality) but the shape and handle of this knife deserve a better steel, usually I have to sharpen it every 3 long uses, I mean if you spend 4 hours cutting boxes (my work requires it) you would have to resharpen. Additional: The feeling of having this knife in my pocket when walking at 3am in the street is empowering. Definitely recommend for anyone who has the need of a 4 inch blade.

Expect to Do Some Work, But It's Worth It
This knife is rugged, cool, and arrives VERY sharp. However, it is a bit unrefined. The G-10 handle has the texture of an aggressive nail-file, and the clip is so tight I use two hands to get it in my jeans pocket. The pivot is so stiff out of the box, I also needed two hands to open it! To remedy this, I oiled the crap out of it and exercised it strenuously. I also plan to sandpaper the area under the clip so it doesn't wear a hole in my pants pockets. There isn't much difference between a 3.5" and 4" blade, but this thing has a very long handle, so it takes up a lot of pocket space. On the positive side, the lockup is extremely solid, and the handle/blade combination is so macho you feel like you could take on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle! The 'wave' opener does work, once you rip this beast out of your pocket. I've only used it on tape and newspaper so far, but the full flat grind makes this an excellent slicer. If you're buying the Talwar as a wicked-looking tactical knife and plan to modify it, you won't be disappointed. I wouldn't give it to a 12-year-old for Christmas.
