With my ice packs it kept everything cool all day
I bought his for our trip to Disney World. I brought it to the parks for 8-12 hours per day everyday for 8 days. With my ice packs it kept everything cool all day. If you are a bigger person, the straps may be a little in the small side. I'm 6'2" 250lbs and the straps were just big enough for me.As for capacity, I used one full size flexible ice pack sheet, and loaded it up with 8-10 half size water bottles, 6-8 Gogo squeeze apple sauce packs, and a bunch of pretzel and chip bags.

Excellent insulation, very good quality, lightweight for road/beach trips
Hats off to this product! I ordered this backpack as a replacement to our heavy but compact plastic cooler that couldn't keep drinks cold for even 6-7 hours despite packing a lot of ice (packs).Where we used it: Two 12 hour road trips, multiple half day trips to the beach. How we packed it: Placed cold drinks (1 1/2 liter juice bottle, 5 soda cans, multiple water bottles, with 1 bottle each on the sides, 1 sandwich box, a snack box). Packed all this with a few squares of flexi freeze ice sheets (from amazon). How it performed:After the road trip - Just amazing. Everything fit comfortably and most drinks were FREEZING cold for at least 4 hours, then cooled down to refrigerator temps for the next 4-5 hours. By the time we unpacked at the end of our road trip, some of the ice packs were still intact without melting, a couple of bottles were ice cold.At the beach - Again, just amazing. We carried just one more tiny lunch bag for snacks that did not need refrigeration but this backpack was just beautiful for that beach day. It kept everything super cool throughout the 4 hours we spent on the beach, beer was extra chilled. As long as you ensure to keep it zipped up as soon as you take out what you need, the insulation is perfect for even a 6 hour trip in hot sun. Also, we used the outer pockets to store our cell phones and other accessories (in zip lock bags to be doubly safe). We were very impressed with it's performance after our road and beach trips. Definitely a quality product.

PERFECTION!
I WILL BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN. I love product reviews that pick apart every little thing. This product is as near perfection as it gets. Look folks, this is not a 50 pond backpack. If you need that much beer, bring a cooler. It is perfect for 6 cans (maybe 8) plus ice. I still had ice after 8 hours. The liner is heavy gauge vinyl. It does NOT leak. I have no plans to turn it upside down. If I did, I would expect the zipper to leak. The straps are well made with reinforced stitching. I do not expect any issues. Don't overload it! There are 2 mesh pockets for water bottles. There is a small pocket for cellphone, keys, wallet. I do not expect ANY backpack, regardless of price, to last mote than a couple years. When this one wears out, I got my money's worth. I will buy another one just like it. I do not know how they make such a great product at such a low price. I love it..

Ripped liner, lacks insulation, and busted zipper after 1 use
This is junk...used once and the liner ripped out, the zipper snagged, and it leaked out of the bottom.Aside from those issues, I would NOT trust this backpack to carry a heavy load such as 12 beverage cans + ice...would probably cause the straps to rip away. The backpack is simply lined with a cheap material (that ripped on the 1st use) and is not insulated in between the liner and the backpack canvas like many "soft shell" cooler bags are. There are multiple loose threads on the outside and the silver piping is painted tape, no other way to describe really!Might work as a lunch/picnic bag for 2 people packing lightly and using promptly. Be very careful using!Mine will be going in the trash unfortunately.

Perfect for Parks
I bought this for my trip to Disney World. For our first trip, we only had 2 half gallon jugs that we froze overnight but the it started to melt almost as soon as we walked out of our rental. It was warm for the rest of the day but we drank it rather than pay $4 for a cold bottle. So for our 2nd trip, I went looking for a cooler but I wanted one that I could carry and not drag everywhere and maybe forget somewhere. I found this one and the reviews were great even if some of them had arrived ripped or ripped during later use but I took a risk and bought it anyways. It was worth it. I filled it half with frozen and unfrozen water bottles and the cooler held so much more than what I thought it would. The ice lasted the whole day. In fact, we had to actually ask for cups of water by the end of the day to try to melt the ice so we could have water. The bag held very well with all the weight and, by the end of the week, it was still in great condition. No rip or tears. I highly recommend this product and hope yours works out as great as mine.

This back pack had bad reviews and I bought it fully expecting it to ...
This back pack had bad reviews and I bought it fully expecting it to break the first time I used it. I've had it for a while now. It's been on several long day hikes filled with 12 cans of beer and 1 bag of ice and never failed once. Also if you empty it out right away when you get home and dry it there is no smell. It could be a little bigger and more sturdy but it works fine and the day it breaks I will buy two more.I recommend this for the hiker who needs cold beverages!BREAKING NEWS OCTOBER 19TH. Went on a 6 mile hike this weekend and backpack still didn't break but I bought two more just because after a while using the same cooler it gets time to throw it out and buy a new one. Eventually no matter how clean you are it will start to smell or make mold. --When I threw mine out yesterday it did not smell yet or have mold I just did it because I like new stuff and I'm paranoid--This is a good backpack
