Thick but easy to apply
Bought this product to use on the restoration of my 1974 Beetle. I am a professional mechanic but have never used seam sealer before. I have replaced the floor pans and used this product to seal the joint between the new floor pans and center chassis section. The new Brazilian pans fit fairly good but did leave some substantial gaps 1/8"-1/4" in several locations that needed extra attention. The instructions on the can are vague at best. I purchased several cheap disposable paint brushes to use to apply this product with the expectation that it would be a very thick liquid similar to syrup. The product is more like a putty with the consistency of body filler prior to hardening. I used a 2" putty knife to squeeze the sealer in to the larger seams and simply coated the remaining seam length using the brush. It required working the brush back and forth to work the product into the joints which dislodged many bristles from my cheap brush, but I did mange to do both floor pans with 1 brush (about 16' of seams). Next time I might try one of the sponge brushes or a higher quality bristle brush to eliminate picking the dislodged bristles from the sealer. I used neoprene gloves although this was not a messy event, safety goggles and a respirator. I expected there to be some strong fumes as it is mentioned in some of the other reviews and boy am I glad I used a respirator. My workshop is 16' x 24' with a 6'x8' door. I had the door open and 3 fans running during the application and as soon as I took the respirator off I immediately knew there was no way I was staying in there to do some of the other tinkering I had planned on while the sealer dried. I would say a respirator is absolutely necessary equipment when using this product. My application did not use much of the product at all so I would guess you could do a whole car with this one can. I would purchase this product again.

com they recommend several different products
I clicked on five so I could write this review. I did not us this product. I wanted to seal the seams on the interior of my car, however, the directions on the can state "This sealer should not be used inside passenger compartments due to solvent odor". If you go to 3m.com they recommend several different products; 08500 ( I just order this one from Amazon) 08360,08361, 08364, 08308 or 08310. These products come in different colors. Some come in a cartridge some in a foil.

Wrong material, could not us the product.
I ordered this to seal a plastic dome over the shower in my RV. I have used a brushable white "whipped cream" type of material before and this appeared to be the same. My mistake. I opened the can and as soon as I seen the gray material, I knew it was wrong.I'm going to take it to a one man repair shop today and see if he can use it.Read all the info before you order!!

Unuseable Contents - Can not spread
In the past I have used Wurth Brushable Seam Sealer purchased from Amazon but it is no all available, so for the same price I bought this 3M product for the first time. When I opened the can I found it was the consistency of yellow spray foam insulation with globs of a harder rubbery material. I tried to mix it but the globs would not break apart. I could not get it spreadable in this condition. The can was not damaged and had a snap on plastic shipping seal in place. This is not the first recent problem I've had with 3M automotive body and paint products. The quality is not there any more in my opinion.

It worked great! As others have mentioned a putty knife works ...
Use a respirator, use a respirator, use a respirator! After cutting a bunch of rust out of the floor of an old conversion van I installed some patch panels and used this stuff to seal the seams. It worked great! As others have mentioned a putty knife works a lot better than a brush. The consistency is somewhere between uncured bondo and Nickelodeon Gak. Like others have also mentioned I did have some cracking due to shrinkage in some areas where I didn't apply it as thickly but coming back with a second application once it had tacked up took care of that. The fumes are border-lining ridiculous, but I have a feeling this is one of those products where they need to be in order for it to work well and still be a single part application. I used a respirator and had all the doors and windows of the van open with a big shop fan blowing out the back. I poked my head in without the respirator on for just for a moment to grab something while it was setting up and immediately felt ill, so I would again say that a respirator is must!

Used to seal firewall
This product worked very well. It was difficult to spread on without a stiff brush and stuck to the brush so I ended up using a plastic knife and it was perfect for what I needed. As the package said, it dried fairly quick(about 15 minutes) so it was imperative to get it in place quickly. Once smoothed out it cured very well. A quality product.

The good and bad
Auto dealer that can't be used with self etching primer? Seems odd, but I guess it has uses. Keep in mind you can't return it. The price was right, if you aren't priming aluminum, I like I need to do.
