LeicaLino L2P5 Self Leveling Combination Cross Line and Dot Laser

I am a general contractor. Since I hadn't used Leica before I was hesitant to spend $300+ on this laser - although I was familiar with their reputation for optics. I had used the Hilti PML 32-R and really liked it, but they don't seem to be made anymore. The Leica Lino L2P5 had similar features so I ordered it. Now that I have been using the Leica on the job for about a month I have nothing but good things to say about it. Because of the features, I would recommend the Leica over the Hilti anyday. The quality, design, and accuracy of this tool are excellent. The vertical laser is even mounted at such an angle that the tool projects the line above and behind itself. The stand/mounting base is also well designed and very useful.Normally I don't take the time to review products, but I saw that this one had yet to be reviewed, and in my opinion it deserves 5 stars. It easily saved its cost in labor on one job. I can't recommend it more highly.Update 4/2/2013 - I see that the other two people who reviewed the laser had less than favorable experiences. Now, almost a year and half later, I am still impressed with my "go to" laser. Still accurate and working well. I change the batteries infrequently - they last a long time unless you are using it constantly, but the cover has not broken as the one reviewer thought might happen. I often take it out of the box to find that whoever used it last didn't lock it and it's been bouncing around the truck. It is still working fine.

I can't say enough good things about this laser. It has a thin line , which is great for accuracy, I can see this becoming a go to laser for layout. It shoots a very wide horizontal line. The fact you can set up the horizontal and vertical lines while using the five directional points is excellent for layout. But the best feature in many ways is the pendulum lock. I have owned many PLS lasers , none of them have that feature.I'm a finish carpenter and wish I'd found this years ago. Buy one!

High quality laser, replaced my Bosch and TPS180 units. The only negative is this unit is larger than the other two. The line and dot combination is really helpful.

Time saving laser for installing cabinets. Easy to set up and use. I especially like that it has both the lines and plumb dots

The laser is quite good. I've used a number of PLS lasers over the years and they always seem to go out of level and plumb and sometimes you don't know it until you're well into a project that requires precision. I think the thing that will allow the Leica to survive is that there is a pendulum lock on the prism assembly that will protect it in storage and transit to the work. The one thing that I don't like is that I cannot figure out how to turn off the plumb beam and use just the horizontal. Most of my work is with the horizontal plane and I dislike having to continually dodge the plumb plane line.

This is a really nice unit, but the horizontal line on the one I received was fuzzy (will post photo) and about an inch wide at a distance of 10' making it useless. The vertical laser was crisp and bright as expected. The product is mostly intuitive, and there are graphical instructions that are a bit confusing. I found a website that explained the functions more clearly. There are no adjustments, not a problem if it doesn't need any. Since this arrived in defective condition I'm concerned enough about the robustness that I am returning it, not exchanging it. Otherwise, it can be used out of the box on a camera tripod, or has a cradle with magnetic, screw and nail mounting provisions as well as a 5/8" surveyors tripod mount. Nice plastic case that holds everything and soft case that holds only the main unit. If this had worked I'm sure this would be a five star review. If...

E tanta roba! Facile , veloce da impostare, affidabile e anche poco ingombrante!

Bin sehr zufrieden. Sehr genau. Habe eine 150qm Praxis mit 9 Räume in Trockenbau damit ausgebaut. Im Innenbereich selbst bei 20m sehr gut zu erkennen. Kann ich nur weiter empfehlen.

Es un buen aparato, fiable y preciso, tengo mas cosas de Leica y completamente satisfecho.

I was renting this exact same unit. Cost me the same as buying after one week. I have used this many times on different jobs. Batteries last a long time. Case is solid. Very bright. Knock sensor works ok. Good for inside to about 30ft either side before the line gets to big and blury.
