In the quest to protect our lovely new couch, I am using this tape to discourage our 2 cats from scratching it. I am pairing this with reinforcing positive scratching behavior, which is important since they do need to redirect the behavior. When the cats scratch on the posts and scratching surfaces we have throughout the house, we praise them and give them treats.Anyway - back to the tape. Is it crazy that a roll of 2-sided tape is so expensive? Yes. But after paying less and getting strips that barely stuck to the upholstery for a day, I was ready to have something that stuck around (pun intended). The strips are nice and wide, and sufficiently sticky to stay put after being placed. I am using them on a microfiber surface, and followed the vendor instructions to spot test to ensure that the tape wouldn't cause damage.Now - you're buying a sticky surface, because cats don't like that feeling against their paws. The whole point is that it's sticky. Other things will stick to it, too. Dust bunnies, throw blankets, your bare leg as you brush by... You get the picture. It is my hope that once the behavior has been enforced for a while to avoid the couch and scratch in the appropriate places, we can say goodbye to having tape on our furniture.

Updated 6/20: While this is, indeed, a great way to train a cat to stay off selected surfaces, it is EXTREMELY difficult to remove if left in place for an extended period. I had some in place on top of a filing cabinet and a ceramic window ledge for about 6 months. I was able to get it off the filing cabinet fairly easily, but had to use a lot of lacquer thinner to remove the gooey residue. On the window ledge I found that the tape itself had degraded (probably from sunlight) and kept tearing which made it even harder to remove. Again, lacquer thinner to remove residue. In short, it does what it says, but beware of removal challenges.Original post: I used this product to discourage my young cat from getting onto counters ny placing strips of it along the top edges. Worked perfectly. She jumped up, found her paws sticking to the tape and immediately retreated. Tried it again with the same result, and voila! No more cat on the counters! I left the tape in place for about a month, then removed it and she still stays away!I also used it across the top of the headboard on my bed and on a cabinet top with the same result.I also used small strips to augment some clear plastic adhesive sheets designed to prevent a cat from scratching g furniture.Only negative is that it's very difficult to remove, even from a formica countertop.Discovered that it's a great product to hold area rugs in place, too!

Tried to use around the base of our bed, where our cat scratches the most. Our sheets and blankets got stuck and the areas of tape that remained became full of cat hair within weeks. We used some on our living room furniture as well and it has become an extreme eye-sore. We were hoping for a solution and our result was lost time and money and unprotected furniture.

Cats hated it which I liked but I hated it too. EVERYTHING stuck to it. The blanket we use when watching tv got stuck on. Pulled threading out when I tried to get it off. Got fed up and took it off the chair and it was really hard to take off. Material residue from the chair was left on the tape when I finally got it off. Buy the smooth ones that you tack onto furniture. They work great and nothing sticks to them.

Wouldn’t waste your money. Bought to deter cats getting on windowsill- nowhere near sticky enough. So decided to use to stick down carpet. Again carpet came straight up without any force. This stuff just doesn’t work.
