By far the best mobile SSD solution I've tried.
I'm a filmmaker that always tries to test new and better tools to get the job done. And this was by far the best experience to externally record ProRes Raw video with the iPhone (16 Pro Max in my case). Do yourself a favor and get the hub just so you're able to both connect wireless microphones and keep the phone charged whilst in use. The U-shaped adapter to move the drive towards the back of the phone makes it easier to mount the phone on a gimbal without worrying it would limit movement. It weights almost nothing, and you'd barely feel the difference unless using a scale.

Hasn’t Failed Me and Works as Advertised
This is one of my go to storage devices when using my iPhone for recording audio & video. It’s fast, the hub is great to plug in extra accessories like mics, lights, etc. it’s not bulky and has the speed and capacity for my 4K 60 videos in ProRes.

Beware of the heat🔥
I would have given this product 5 ⭐️’s if it wasn’t for how fast this overheats! I mean hot 🥵… not only does this get hot but it definitely heats up your phone as well. I wish they would come up with a solution because I really want to love this product. Before it heats up it works like a champ. I haven’t lost any files due to the heat so that’s still a plus. Still utilizing it till this day.🤙

Does not fit devices with cases without extra adapters
I struggled to get this to fit on my phone without hitting my gimbal. The USB connector is stubby and won't fit into a phone with a case (not even a very thin case, which I have). The supplied 180-degree adapter also does not fit into devices with cases. The SSD fit into my laptop with a very thin case, but when I handed it to someone else with a protective case on their laptop, it did not stay connected. Because the USB plug is somewhat in the middle, when I plug it in, it blocks nearby ports on my laptop and my hub. I ended up buying a tiny USB extender for hub use and a different 180-degree adapter that works with a phone case without interfering with my gimbal. Be prepared for some potential fitment challenges. I have an iPhone 17 Pro, and this SSD works fine at recording 4K@60 ProRes with LUT. I have not tried ProRes raw yet. This disk is preformatted as ExFAT, and leave it that way. Do NOT reformat it to APFS. iPhones use APFS internally and externally, but recording ProRes externally from an iPhone must be done only with ExFAT drives.

Does not seem to work with iPhone 16 pro max
Does not work with iPhone 16 pro max which is unfortunately the reason I purchased it. Memory is good for Mac though so despite this I will keep it. Please be aware that it seems that probably the power requirements for the memory are not sufficiently met by the iPhone. Yes that means on full charge iphone16pro max running the most up to date software and having searched online for a solution…

Not ideal for people who charge MacBook with USB-C
Everything works well, except if you are used to charging your MacBook with the USB-C, you can’t insert this device on the second USB-C at the same time as it kind of gets in the way.
