GT-2000 5 equal or better than Kayanos (really)
Crazy. I've been using Asics Kayanos almost exclusively for 20 years, only buying other brands (Mizuno or Saucony, mostly) when I couldn't get the previous year's Kayanos for less than $100. I've never had any ankle, knee, hip, or other injuries associated with running, although I seldom run more than 6 miles in a session or 20 miles in a week. These are the first GT-2000s I've tried, and they are amazing. Firm like Kayanos and supportive, I think they have a little more height and cushion than the current Kayanos, a feature that is better for me as a 185lb slight heel striker with a neutral gait tending toward pronation.I have a pair of similarly low mileage Kayanos, and right now, I prefer these.

Fit and comfort are great. The heel support is good
Fit and comfort are great. The heel support is good. The replaceable insole allows me to use my orthotics. Extremely comfortable. Big toes eventually blow out. Just means it's time to get a new pair 'cause the outsole is usually just about gone by then too. I usually get about six months per pair walking a minimum of three miles a day; at least one day a week is greater than 5 miles.

Great shoe, runs about a half size large
The GT2000 series is fantastic (every other version anyway)...The 5 is spot on. Support and lightweight. They don't last too long but greatness fades fast always...

The GT-2000 series is a great shoe, but this particular one has a problem
I've been wearing the GT-2000 series Asics for years and I run about 1200-1500 miles per year, swapping between a few different pairs of shoes each year. I bought this particular pair of GT-2000s because they were slightly cheaper than usual, but I'm not thrilled with the yellow material around the ankle. It's made of a slick/slippery feeling material that makes the shoe and tongue slide around a lot more on my foot than any other material I've had on my many other GT-2000's. I should have returned them right away but I didn't. I ended up not using these for long distance training and instead use them for every day walking around. They're fine for that. GT-2000s are a great model if you pronate like I do, but this particular pair, with the slick material on the sides, isn't good for long distance running, IMO, so only three stars for my review.

Great running shoes
2nd pair in over two years. I run a mile a day and 100 floors on stair master every other. Lots of biking. Outsoles on 1st pair showing signs of age, still getting lots of use, but insoles, toe, heel and upper still like new. New ones fit well, seem like they will last as long as 1st.

Good every day running shoe
Good every day running shoe. If I need a break and want extra cushion I’ll switch to the gel nimbus for a day or so,, which is my other shoe. The GT 2000 sole wears longer, I can almost get 200 miles out of them. I use the lite show version for the winter months since it’s dark out when I run.Overall a solid trainer for the bulk of runs. You’ll want a lighter shoe for speed work.

Dope night reflection colors
These would be the one pair of shoes I'd choose to wear for the rest of my life if O could only wear one.. going to buy at least two of the exact same. In the sun they look black and cool but at night when the light hits them they have the coolest blue green yellow reflection logo and trim.badass. Get a full size bigger than normal so they fit just right trust me, I had to buy a second pair to figure this out.

TL;DR - sellers unethical, yearly trend of degrading quality.
I bought this shoe at this same time last year (Dec 30, 2017 to be exact) for a fair enough price of $74.95. They have been very comfortable and lasted a reasonable amount of time considering the stress I put them through, given my size (6'/210lbs) and usage of them (work 8-10hrs/day on feet). However, I went back to an old pair of GT 2000 4s that these were a replacement for because they now feel more like a cheap pair of Chucks (Converse) than a premium running shoe. The toe mesh has begun tearing as well, but as I said, I beat them up pretty good daily. I will note that this was not a problem with the previous models.Since the 2000 4s are no longer available in my size I decided that the slightly lower quality 2000 5s would be acceptable, so I clicked the handy "Buy Again" button and discovered that the same shoe from the same seller is now almost double ($119) what I paid a year ago. I can't imagine what they'd charge for the 2000 4s now. This is deplorable sales tactics to say the least. Even worse, they'll probably get their absurd asking price because the newer GT 2000 6s have degenerated even more according to the reviews.I realize this is more rant than review, but both Asics and Verified Products are unscrupulous at best. Maybe this is common practice but it's a shame that greed always supersedes ethics as a business model. Quality is sacrificed for reduced production costs and then sold as the next line in the product's evolution. Who cares as long as they sell more units? I'm sure Asics can ride on its previous reputation for years to come, and looking at the seller's page you'll see nothing but exemplary reviews. Perhaps I'm alone in my way of thinking and being honorable means nothing beyond earning bumper stickers for your parents' minivans as a youth. My apologies for the tangent.
