We have tried the OLD Head and Shoulder and it’s like they changed it. Well I started buying this for my husband and he loves it. We normally buy it at our local store but started buying it here in Amazon. It really helps with my husband’s dry scalp. He also likes that the bottle is soft and you and squeeze all the shampoo out of the bottle. It’s a good size bottle too which usually last him 2-3 months cause you don’t need to use a lot of it cause it lathers up really well. So if you’re a Head and Shoulders person this is the one to get. And it smells good too.

I have been searching for products to relieve my dandruff for years. I have even had prescription strength shampoos. But nothing has worked as well as this product. Funny enough, the active ingredient in this product is not even the supposed best option for treating dandruff but it is effective, very much so. I have two thoughts on why this is. The first is that this product creates a thicker lather than any other shampoo I have ever used. This is helpful for dandruff because it helps the active ingredients reach the scalp where they are needed. Next is that the minimal ingredients in the product do not dry out your hair. Therefore, you will be more likely to use it daily which I have, and have had great results with. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love this product as in our home we have hard water and it can cause dandruff. It is effective in reducing the flakes and it is clean. No greasiness, I use it as my first wash and then follow with a salon shampoo and conditioner. Great price for a clean product. I am trying to get our home as "clean" as possible and this meets my requirements.

Even though the formula is sulfate-free and doesn’t lather like traditional shampoos, my scalp still felt genuinely clean after rinsing. By the second and third wash, I could tell it was removing buildup while keeping my roots from getting greasy later in the day. The anti-dandruff effectiveness is steady rather than dramatic. It didn’t eliminate flakes overnight, but after a few washes, the itching calmed down and the visible dryness around my scalp noticeably reduced. It feels like a product designed for long-term scalp health instead of quick, aggressive results. Moisture-wise, it sits in a comfortable middle ground. My scalp feels soothed and less tight after washing, but my ends still needed a bit of conditioner — not a downside, just what you’d expect from a shampoo focused on clean ingredients. The overall quality of the formula is impressive for something free of sulfates, dyes, and silicones; it feels thoughtfully made and gentle enough for daily use. Overall, it’s a clean, calm, and effective option for anyone with a sensitive or dry scalp. I’m giving it 4 stars mainly because I wish it added just a touch more moisture to the lengths of my hair, but as a soothing anti-dandruff routine, it works extremely well.

Gentle, soothing, and works without being harsh I’ve used a lot of anti-dandruff shampoos over the years, and this one feels much gentler than most. It still does what it’s supposed to do, but without that overly strong medicated smell or harsh feeling on your scalp. The “Bare Soothing” version really lives up to its name — it leaves your scalp feeling clean and calm, not dry or stripped. I also noticed my hair didn’t feel as brittle afterward compared to some other dandruff shampoos. It lathers well and rinses clean without leaving any residue, which is always a plus. The only small downside is that if you’re used to heavily scented shampoos, this one is more mild and subtle — but I personally liked that. Overall, a great option if you need dandruff control but want something that feels a little more gentle for everyday use.

I've battled dandruff for +30 years and have spent THOUSANDS on different shampoos, conditioners, treatments, scalp tools, etc. I've tried every trick I could find, down to salt scrubs, tea tree oil, lemon juice, steam, you name it, i tried it. Best results would last a week or so, then it would be back and sometimes worse than before. It got so bad, that after 38 years of having hair that was so thick I would have to get it thinned out during hair cuts, my hair started to literally fall out in clumps. So bad, that I saw a doctor because I thought I had some kind of illness causing it to fall out. Turns out, it was my scalp condition drastically getting worse. It was covered in buildup, and scratching it would create sores. I could never leave the house with out a hat, and even then, I was beyond embarrassed to go in public. I decided to try one last time before i just shaved my beautiful long head of hair, and just happened to find this stuff (mind you, I have tried Head and Shoulders, along with every other shampoo on the market a dozen times or more with little to no results. If anything, it made it worse) 1st wash had great results, but i didn't hold my breath. 2nd wash, it was 99% gone and my scalp stopped itching. 3rd wash, 9 days in, and I had zero build up, no dandruff, no dry itchy scalp, no sore spots... absolutely nothing. And my hair was soft and shiny as all heck! For the price, it's worth 20x the amount I paid. I'm now approximately 1.5 to 2 months in, and have seen NOTHING come back. I've even felt safe enough, i went to a normal shampoo 50% of the time. I've never gone this long without problems my entire life, and looking forward to growing it back out to its full lions mane appearance in another 3 years.

I've been using this Head and Shoulders (H&S) shampoo for about a month and it has helped reduce my mild-moderate dandruff. However it has not completely eliminated it. I wish there was an accompanying H&S Bare conditioner with the same minimal ingredient list. The H&S company does not recommend applying conditioner to the scalp that does not contain the active ingredient zinc pyrithione (ZP). This is because non-ZP conditioners will wash away the active ingredient and reduce the overall effectiveness of dandruff reduction. In my experience, if you just use the shampoo, it will dry your hair out and leave it frizzy. I have thick wavy/curly hair that is about 6", conditioning is a must to prevent dry, brittle, and frizzy hair. Given the length of my hair, getting conditioner on my scalp is unavoidable. Although H&S does have sulfate free conditioners, they contain synthetic ingredients and alcohol. So there is no complete synthetic-free option solely from H&S. They need to release a conditioner under the Bare product line. A true catch-22 if you're looking for anti-dandruff, conditioning, and minimal ingredients. I do still appreciate this shampoo for being sulfate free with minimal ingredients. The scent is pleasant and it does reduce dandruff. The reduced plastic Ecobottle is a cool feature that makes it easy to get all of the shampoo out of the bottle. The price per bottle is also very reasonable. Slightly pricier than regular H&S, but much cheaper than comparable PZ based minimal ingredient shampoos from those niche haircare brands. I'd recommend this to some people. Those who have short hair that doesn't need conditioner, doesn't want to spend a lot, and cares about minimal ingredients. Unfortunately for the reasons above, I do not think I will be purchasing this again once I run out. I just started using anti-dandruff haircare, so I want to see if other active ingredients like Ketoconazole and Coal Tar can completely eliminate my dandruff. There are sulfate free minimal ingredient shampoos and conditioners that contain these actives so I will try those next.

I am almost 52 years old and have struggled with both psoriasis and eczema for my entire life. I have received multiple prescriptions over the years and tried every OTC product and not one thing has worked. I decided to try this product for the heck of it, because you never know what could work and within the first week of using it, my scalp began to clear up. I have not had any flakiness since using this product. I never imagined that an OTC product would work better than any steroids, coal tar, or the numerous other things I've tried over the years only to be disheartened when they did not work. I have recommended this product to everyone I know who struggles with skin issues.
