I bought this 5kg bag of Emma Basic Koshi Sushi Rice for a few homemade sushi nights, and it’s been a great choice overall. Pros: Great texture: The rice cooks up nice and sticky, just like you want for sushi. It holds together well without being too mushy. Good quality: It’s consistent in texture and flavour—perfect for sushi or even just rice bowls and side dishes. Large quantity: The 5kg bag lasts a while, which is great if you make sushi often or need rice for big meals. Affordable: For the quality and quantity, this is a pretty budget-friendly option compared to other sushi rice brands. Cons: Takes some practice: Like any sushi rice, you’ll need to get the cooking technique right (soaking, rinsing, etc.) to get the perfect results. Not pre-seasoned: Some might prefer rice that’s already seasoned with vinegar, sugar, and salt, but that’s easy to do yourself. Overall, a solid, reliable sushi rice that delivers on both quality and value. Great for anyone who makes sushi at home regularly!

I now have this on a regular subscription because it is our family's absolute favourite kind of short grain rice. Buying in a large quantity is such good value for this type of premium product. We have found the quality to be consistent across several large bags of rice, with little dust or grit at the bottom of the bag. The texture and flavour is delicate but so tasty, and is just as good hot as it is cold - not just for sushi! We particularly like it with a coconut milk based curry. It also makes a cracking old fashioned rice pudding, so is quite versatile.

This is the only rice I tend to eat. I use it for everything, from rice bowls, to sushi, to side dishes or a base for other dishes, and it always tastes good. It is very easy to season and prepare, and there’s so much of it, that it lasts me months. I think for the amount you get, it’s really worth the price! If you’re looking for a bulk bag of rice to last you a while, this product would definitely be a good option.

Good quality sushi rice, cooks great and and has a lovely taste. does not go stodgy or falls apart. Have used this for ages.

Amazing Life saver for Japanese

I prefer this Koshi Haruki Sushi Rice to the small packed Sushi rice I previously ordered. This is much tastier and bigger rice than the other one.

Really really nice rice! Easy to cook and store, plus super sticky!

The rice is different from real Japanese rice, it is harder than expected, may need to add more water to cook. Also, lack of a rice favour/not sticky at all. But it’s cheap, so I still recommend, but this is not Japanese rice
