Does anyone know the capacity or volume of each compartment? Do the small compartments hold about 1/2 cup of food and the large one about 1 cup?

Each section holds 1/2 cup of food. And then the fruit and veggie section 1 cup depending on what it is. If it is really leafy like spinach or lettuce, then it will still hold 1/2 cup on that side, it will just sit higher on the plate.

how many plates come in 1 order??

You can order a single plate, or the 4 pack which comes with 4 plates.

My granddaughter is 5 years old. Is this portion good for her or would this dish be too big for her age?

Yes. The portion size should be 1/2 cup grains, 1/2 cup fruit, 3 oz protein, and 1/3 cup veggies.
