Good value and reliable for both home and professional use.
This CT-580 CO detector is a great tool. As a plumber and gas installer of 30 years, I already own a couple of gas detectors and this one from Toptes performs just as well (and better in some respects) as my existing ones, which cost very much more than this. It appears to be very well-made from premium materials, is lightweight and portable, and includes lots of professional features including a thorough self-test of all functions at start-up and many editable settings so can be modified for specifically different environments and uses. Despite this versatility, the default settings make it safe, reliable and very simple to use for the average homeowner or amateur DIYer straight out of the box. I have tested it on a couple of gas boilers and, (since I don’t fit faulty boilers), it understandably registered 0% ppm of carbon monoxide as expected. To test it further I used it to interrogate the exhaust gas of my diesel car at first start and, as expected, got a very high CO reading, and a naked flame in the open air got a medium reading, again as expected. It comes in a neat and robust storage/carry case, a USB charging cable, a 23-page detailed instruction manual and, a three-year manufacturer’s warranty. A good value, and reliable device for both professional and amateur use. Note: This will accurately detect the presence of dangerous carbon monoxide (CO) gas only. It does NOT detect carbon dioxide (CO2) or any other gasses as has been wrongly implied by some other reviewers.

Excellent value and peace of mind for £40.
A semi-professional Carbon Monoxide Detector that appears to be well built and presented. Comes with comprehensive instruction manual, protective case and charge lead. Easy to read colour LED display which is in a selectable window format controlled by the navigation and function buttons on the front of the unit. Self - test mode when switched on. Icon style display with selection from 2 navigation buttons Event records (Failure records, calibration records and system records Alarm settings (low, high and backlash) Calibration (password protected) System settings (Display – brightness and sleep, notifications – light, buzzer and vibration) and language – only English and Chinese, Factory reset Advanced menu (Password protected) sensor settings, back up settings and clear records Information Two display modes for results – as clock style face (where the concentration is displayed as a clockwise rotation) or as a graphical chart in a linear style. Main display option of clock style display or bar graph Small torch option To be fair for £39.99 you’re not going to be robbed, and extremely useful if you have a caravan, motorhome, wood burning stove or boiler and certainly more accurate than a home alarm. A small price to pay for piece of mind. CE and UKCA approved. It’s comforting to know as well that the unit can be calibrated – with reference to appropriate documentation of course. Excellent value and peace of mind for £40.

Great that it has a built-in battery, lovely colour screen.
The TOPTES CT-580 Carbon Monoxide Detector, Rechargeable CO Detector with Vibration, Visual & Audible Alarm arrive nicely packaged in a branded retail box and inside that box was the carbon monoxide detector in its own storage case. You get a user manual, a storage case, and a USB-C charging cable. The product has reasonable built its quite light but feels robust enough to withstand everyday carbon monoxide tasks. The carbon monoxide has a beautiful colour LCD display that is visually appeasing, and lovely and clear, and easy to read. When you first turn on the carbon monoxide detector, it goes through various stages at checking the sensors before it powers on fully. I don't currently have any carbon monoxide in my house check this device works properly, she's obviously great for me. So I held down the gas on a cigarette lighter. I also used a candle, and this carbon monoxide detector didn't flag up anything, also checked my gas boiler and zero. I'm no expert on carbon monoxide detectors. I thought it would at least flag up something about gas that it could detect, but unfortunately it didn't. I'm not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. You can be the judge of that, but I thought I would point this out. Without having a carbon monoxide gas leak inside my house, I can't really check that it works properly. But I know it wasn't working with gas. I just fought this would be a handy product to have in the house to check for these kinds of things as a safety measure. Overall, the product has a lovely screen; it has a nice built-in battery which is handy, and it has reasonable build quality.

Excellent, well laid out device with lots of data points and records of results.
I've got one heck of a CO test instrument for £40. This is a very sophisticated instrument for this price. I show a short video of some of it's features and screens, plus how it works well at detecting and recording CO levels. This is really an all in one device, that can even be left on as a monitor with battery saving options. The monitors has a really clean uncluttered easy to read screen that can serve several pages of information, records, and self calibration test results. Basically, this device, is an all in one CO safety device that can be a life saver in places where the hidden, CO odourless gas may be present. I am very pleased with the operation, easy to read and comprehensive layout of the screens, controls and useful data that is recorded and saved on the device. There is a well written and clear user manual that describes all the functions and how to operate. I would definitely recommend this monitor.

An Excellent Piece of Kit
The TOPTES CT-580 is a sensitive little carbon monoxide detector which, unlike many other portable devices of its kind, gives the user a lot of control over the operating parameters. For example, the detector has three types of alarm: light, sound, and vibration. The user can set the CT-580 so that all three alarms activate in the presence of CO, but one or more can be switched off if you prefer. The backlash settings (both of which are zero by default) can be increased to control how far below the low-alert and high-alert levels CO has to drop before the relevant alarm switches off (once it has been activated by the presence of carbon monoxide). Several other parameters can also be altered, making this a very user-friendly machine. The main screen is bright and easy to read. The CO display is based on that of a car speedometer, in other words it's a gauge chart, with the CO level in ppm (parts per million) in numerical form in the centre while a curved bar around the perimeter illuminates from left to right in the presence of increasing carbon monoxide levels, turning orange at low-alert level, then red if CO reaches a high-alert level. It's an ideal way of displaying this critical info. The screen brightness can be altered - a handy feature, as lower brightness levels use less battery power. The unit can keep records of its usage. You can clear the records at the touch of a button. A thick instruction manual is included. It's thorough, which is ideal, since this device is designed to save lives. It pays to know how to use it properly, and to be able to alter the operating parameters so they best suit your needs. The device comes in a zippable carry case with a cutaway foam section that's precisely engineered to house the CT-580 unit so it won't rattle around and be damaged in transit. Good design. A charging cable is included too. As an important safety feature, the unit's power button has to be pressed and then held down continuously for a few seconds in order to switch off the device. This is to prevent users from inadvertently switching it off without realising they've done so, via a brief accidental touch of a button - that could have catastrophic results. An excellent piece of kit.

Nice
This carbon monoxide detector proved invaluable for peace of mind, especially in environments where gas exposure is a concern. The TOPTES CT-580 is a compact, rechargeable CO detector that’s easy to take along, whether I’m at home, travelling, or even camping. Its portability means I could keep it on hand wherever I needed, which is a big advantage compared to traditional wall-mounted models. One standout feature is its multi-alert system. With visual, audible, and even vibration alarms, it ensures that I’m notified of any CO presence immediately, even if I’m not right next to it. The TFT colour display was clear and easy to read, showing precise CO levels from 0 to 1000 PPM, which gave me confidence in the readings. Charging is straightforward with its rechargeable battery, and I found the battery life held up well, making it reliable for travel. My only minor concern is that the display could be a bit difficult to see in very bright light, but in most situations, it was readable enough. For anyone looking for a dependable, portable CO detector, this TOPTES model covers all the essentials with added portability, making it suitable for a range of settings. It’s a smart safety investment, especially if you’re often on the move.

So far, so good
Have used it for about a month now. Not sure how accurate it is within the single or double digits but it's readings have definitely been in the ballpark to a reasonable degree. Have used it for safety checking for CO leaks around the house from cracked heat exchangers or back spilling hwt venting and for troubleshooting furnaces and seeing how much CO is in the exhaust to identify plugged heat exchangers. Every time the readings I see match with what I expect from all the other evidence. And every once in awhile I'll take it to a vehicle exhaust and always get consistent numbers as I approach. For $80 can't ask for much more than that. Display screen is very straightforward and has good visibility too. The advanced features might be more complicated to use but the basic features are super user friendly and easy to figure out. If it keeps working this well for a few more years then I'll have zero regrets and be happy with the purchase.

Parfait
