Afghan Balouchi War Rugs were hand-made during the invasion of Afghanistan by the Ex-Soviet Union. They were woven in the province of Herat, by Herati village weavers, in Northwestern Afghanistan, on the Persian border. The motifs represent the authentic feeling of villagers during that time about aggression and tyranny of Russians in Afghanistan. Many other war rugs were made in workshops but these are authentic and made during the actual war. These war rugs are no longer being made and they are now considered collectibles.
