Perfect Starter Kit . Very high quality bits . buy as big a set as you can afford the first time
I had a few odds and ends but wanted a organized kits this fit the bill , everything as listed in the one review and in a nice case with some adjustment and room for expansion . .If you pick it up on a lightening deal you can't go wrong period . I have had this for quite a while now . Every bit is still in the set and they cut great . I bought this for my personal work shop and use it for repairs on the trailers , bikes , cars and home . It gets used . The bits are high quality and last much better then what I used to bring home from the commercial machine shop . Very pleased . I never go for the old box of bits or drills . Straight to this set and my twenty volt Dewalt cordless . I added a few countersink metal bits again Dewalt the are great for installing piano hinges or door plates . I love how it keeps everything organized . I even bought a smaller set to keep with the tools I take on trips but should of just bought two of these there not that expensive for how they perform . IT is so important to have quality tools for projects . They pay for themselves and like guns just increase in value .

Solid value
DeWalt is synonymous with good stuff, and this kit is no exception. Yes, there are a lot of #2 phillips bits. That's because Ph#2 bits are an engineering abomination, deliberately designed to cam out in order to limit torque, thus destroying the driver just before it slips out and ruins your workpiece, which is excellent for companies who sell bits, and great for business in general, so they are used everywhere. But I digress. In any case, (intentional!) DeWalt has done the best anyone could of providing a bit kit that will do pretty much anything ordinary. If you're a tradesman, you know what you need ten or twenty of per week, most likely including Phillips #2 bits... For everyone else, this kit is a great start and a good value. For the handyman or DIY guy, you might never need anything else.I added a couple specialty bit sets from Klein, which fit nicely in the small plastic case inside the large DeWalt case. I also threw in another smaller DeWalt bit set, and a compact ratcheting multibit screwdriver. There's more room left, and I already have 90% of what gets used most often in one case. Of course, being DeWalt, all the bits and drills are really nice quality.I do have some complaints, of course...The handle, although large and impressive-looking, seems to have been designed by an inconsiderate midget or something. At 6' 180# I'm not a real beefy guy, and my hand barely fits. The handle seems specifically constructed as a machine to scrape the skin off your knuckles, and if you're a big guy with fat fingers, forget it; you are not going to be able to carry this case by the handle without bleeding. I'll eventually get out the Dremel and do some relieving on the case under the handle, or cut off the damn handle altogether and tie on a rope or something. Not a huge deal but annoying and avoidable. One half star gets removed for that awful handle, and somebody ought to get fired, too, even if he _is_ a midget. The magnet in the magnetic tray is quite weak. I'll probably toss that tray and its clunky, bulky holder for more space in the case, if I can manage to pry it out. I have a couple other bigger better mag trays anyway. Next time, use a nice neodymium or something, DeWalt, but don't include a lame cheap accessory just to take up space. Half star penalty.[Update to add: That magnetic tray is really pretty awful. Mine fell apart the first time I looked at it; the glue holding it together just let go. So I thought I'd just lose it and make space in the case for something useful. Unfortunately, some idiot at DeWalt had the bright idea of permanently gluing the bulky, space-wasting molded plastic holder into the rails of the case. Gee, since they're little dovetails, if you really wanted to secure something a little sticky goo would work just fine, no need for permanent glue... I tried to pry it out, and succeeded in cracking the little reinforcing rib inside the case for my efforts. That took almost no effort. So I dremeled it out instead, and I'll be gluing something else in its place, since I can't use the dovetail rails anymore. That whole issue irked me, because the case could be modular, customizable and cool if they didn't go and glue in a totally useless accessory...]So minor [or not] quibbles with the case make it a 4-star kit instead of five; not bad at all, because the bits do their jobs well, and that's what matters. The case is far more robust than your average piece of plastic, but it feels like it just might shatter in a million bits if you left it overnight in the truck in winter and then dropped it. Maybe next time it gets really cold I'll drop-test this case and post the results here... [Minor prying shatters the cheap (polystyrene?) brittle plastic when it's warm. I will not bet on the lifespan of this case.]I'll look around for more bit holders that fit the dovetail rails in the case. If I can find some, I can really trick out this case for my specific needs. Hey DeWalt, maybe sell the bit holders to fit this case separately?Until then, it'll do just fine as it is. Solid stuff [more or less] from DeWalt.

Perfect for the DIYer or handy man!
FANTASTIC value for the money! For someone just starting with a drill, a home DIYer or even the professional, this kit offers a ton of value for a low price tag with Dewalt quality. This kit covers almost everything you would need for most home projects, and then some.Wide selection of driver and drill bits, all neatly organized and sorted, along with some helpful little bins to store spare screws, bits, or whatever you need, that all snaps close in a nice secure carry box. Purchased this as a Christmas present, and so far the recipient hasn't called me for a bit or driver since, and uses it all over their house. The only negative I have found is the attachments for the bits and drivers are easy to remove, but near impossible to get the bit back into position. Additionally, several bits have loose mounts, which tend to let the free when bounced or shaken in the case, which is annoying. However the kit is still wonderful and a great addition.

You need this. No questions asked.
To start this all I I noticed that my boss had a Dewalt case just like this one; only thing different was it looks like it had font through hell and back. I quickly bought this bit set for both knowing how durable the case is and what's within. It comes with a nice magnetic plate, a misc. bit holder. And just about every but under the sun. The magnetic plate is very nice if you have screws in your hand and need to set them down. I just through them on there and you can close the case and the screws are secured. The misc. bin for bits is partitioned into two pieces and is very useful. I keep my nut drivers in one part and easy out bits in the other. This kit has every bit you'll ever need, except specialty bits and security tips. Got the case itself it is build out of this plastic that IS NOT cheap. It has a handle on top which impersonally don't use but I could probably find a use for it. The latch on the side to keep this case all together is well build and you know it will stay together. For the durability of this case I have used it to stand on before. I needed a few more inches to reach something and I used it. No problem. I am 6' 1" and 190 pounds. This case can take a beating and the bits are worth it. Don't mess around with any other bit set other hen this Dewalt set
