Loved the color :) Vibrant pinkish-red on previously dyed copper red hair!
So for some reason I never took a picture of my hair when I dyed it with this, otherwise I'd add it. I had originally dyed my hair copper red with John Frieda's Deep Copper Canyon dye. That stuff was pretty rough on my hair though, so I decided to try using this over top of it for something more vibrant yet not damaging. Normally you're supposed to bleach first, but I didn't want anything quite as extreme as this over bleach blonde hair, so I figured the damage from just having dyed it would let the dye absorb enough for it to stick around for a while, and it definitely did. It was still pretty vibrant (though definitely faded quite a bit) a month later when I colored my hair with a permanent dye. Also, I have longish hair and it's pretty thick (my hair length is about down to my bra clasp in the back) and I used one entire 4oz jar. I don't really think you'd need more than that unless you have really long hair or unless your hair is really damaged and will absorb more of the dye. The color is vibrant and it came out as a kind of pinkish red (everything that this stained turned pink, so it's not hard to see why). When I first did it, I thought my hair looked more like a dark magenta than red, but everyone else said it was red, so I trust their judgment. Also, for those who work in a business environment, I got a lot of comments on how vibrant my hair was (comparisons to Ariel were common), but it wasn't too crazy, though I guess that could depend on how conservative your office environment is. I work at a conservative Christian school, but it's still a university, so my hair was pretty tame compared to the students who have pink and blue hair. I just wish they allowed that of their employees :( A few warnings though: 1. It bleeds a lot. You should use an old pillowcase when sleeping and old towels when drying your hair. Also, I recommend even wearing an old t-shirt or something when letting it air dry at least after the first few washings because it did stain one of my old hoodies a bit where it dried (if your hair's short though you probably don't need to worry about it). 2. It stains your skin. Definitely use vaseline or something if you're worried about that, but it does wash off after a few days. 3. It's not so good on virgin hair. I had about 3/4" of roots when I died and while at first it stained the roots fairly well, after maybe a week or two they were pretty much completely back to the natural color. Not a big deal for me, but I would NOT recommend using this dye on virgin hair and expect it to stick around for very long. It might depend on your hair type though, so others could have better results than me (my natural hair is golden brown and thick). Ultimately I decided not to keep using the dye just because it would be too much hassle to have to keep coloring my roots with a permanent color and then using this over top of it and I don't want to mess with full on bleaching my hair at the moment (plus I have a feeling if I bleached it, I'd wind up needing to go with vampire red or something to get away with it at work). I rated it 5 stars though because it does what it says and it's a good vibrant color. I wound up going with Ion creme in 7IR which on my hair was roughly the same shade as a more faded (yet still vibrant red) version of this, so it was a good compromise. Plus I like that with the permanent color I don't really have to worry about all the bleeding except after the first wash or two. This color was still bleeding after one month (on that note though, washing with Johnson's baby shampoo really helps get a lot of the color out if anyone needs help removing this color to dye with something else).

Hair Dye
This manic panic hair dye has lasted on my daughters hair since she bought it 4 months ago. Very bright. She has had so many compliments. Beautiful bright color. I recommend this product.

Finally, a Red That Pops!
I am obsessed with Manic Panic Rock ‘n’ Roll Red! The color is vibrant, bold, and exactly what I wanted—it’s the perfect mix of fiery red and deep ruby tones. The formula is easy to apply, creamy, and doesn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy or damaged. Even after multiple washes, the color stays bright and gorgeous longer than I expected. I’ve gotten so many compliments, and it’s such a fun way to express myself. Highly recommend this dye for anyone who wants a statement red that truly pops!

Size and price
Smaller than what’s at the beauty store - same price. Color came out great on my daughter. No issue.

Awesome red, even on virgin hair
So this color didn't come out as expected, BUT that's most likely because it was used on virgin hair. It was done on dark blonde hair, it came out more of a "natural" red than the brighter- which sounds like it would be expected but we've used other dyes on this hair without bleaching that came out incredibly close to the sample. But reds are typically pretty weird anyway. It was dark and has lasted over a month now (BUT we left it on for 1 hour, and then 2 days later did another "layer" and left that one for 45 min). It is still pretty dark considering how much it's gotten washed. It didn't fade to orange. She looks like she is a natural ginger. I'm very pleased. This is definitely one of my favorite reds for sure. P.s. we do use a sulfate free shampoo and a leave in conditioner. When we do a rinse condition that is also sulfate free. I mention this because it is likely to be part of why it has lasted BUT Manic Panic has always been one of the better brands. I've used it for about 15 years now. Also, different hair holds different dyes better. For example, purple fades from my hair almost immediately no matter what I do. It stays in one of my childrens hair for much, much, much longer.

Good but tiny.
The color is lovely and bright even on unbeached hair, but the bottle is tiny and doesn't full cover my shoulder-length hair, it would require at least 2 jars.

Rock n Roll Red makes a gorgeous blushed pink!
Full disclosure, I did not use this straight up. I diluted the color a LOT for a pink-hue to paint into my white hair for a fun punch of a color for a few weeks. My hair sucks up dye like a sponge, so going for a color like Cotton Candy Pink wasn't the best idea for me. I'd have probably burned through half the tub in one go just to cover my tips and blend out some top sections for a subtle color melt. So instead I picked Rock n Roll Red, which is supposed to be something of a pink-based red and diluted it. Luckily, pink-red was correct and it came out really well. About half a tablespoon of the dye plus maybe half a cup of conditioner (to get a nice salmon-y color) resulted in a lovely pastel pink with silvery tints (from the remains of my silver toner). It looks almost jewel toned to me and is very subtle but still fun. I like to use this in my conditioner as well to add subtle tones from time to time when I feel like my hair is looking a little plain or I'm getting the itch to try another color but don't quite want to backpedal on all the effort it took to get me to white/silver in the first place! I can't speak to the longevity because I specifically diluted this to the point that it wouldn't last long on me. I get bored with color super fast so long commitments aren't a good mix for my style. I will say that it didn't bleed or fade that much by my first or second shampoo so it's not like it's going to immediately rinse out of your hair!

This is a temp color, not perma.! Please don't say this color doesn't last, that's how it suppose to be!
This color is so RED! I have short hair so every time I only use about 1/5 of jar. My hair was bleached and had perm. red hair dye that I have to re-apply every 4 weeks. I use this in between dye so the red doesn't fade as bad. Red color fades so quickly. Even when you wash with cold water and use red shampoo, they will fade a little with every wash. I wash my hair almost daily, so imagine the pain. Before I use Manic Panic, I use purple shampoo to get rid of the brass build up on my hair. I put purple shampoo on dry hair, let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse and dry. Don't use conditioner if you are going to dye your hair after. Then I put Manic Panic on my hair, use finger to rub them on hair instead of combing. I let it sit for 2 hours, heat up your hair every 30 minutes, then wash dye off with lukewarm water, or as cold as you can take. I wouldn't recommend using really cold water because it will give me a headache and it's really uncomfortable. This dye will completely fade around 10~14 wash. I don't always wash my hair with cold water and I do wash my hair everyday. So this is pretty outcome.

Will stain your bathroom for weeks
Great shade and all as usual however this is the ONE shade from manic panic that sucks !!! It faded away massively after the first wash and it’s a blood bath at each shower or everyone you wash your face if the water touches your hair or even if you just sweat. I literally have a special towel now for me that is the one I won’t mind staining everyday. I feel it just makes sense as it is a kind of bloody red Honestly not worth it. Just fo with any other shade of red, the rock and roll one is amazing.
