These insoles are advertised as puncture resistant primarily for use on job sites where stepping on a nail is a real possibility. I bought them for another purpose - "barefoot" style shoes. The sole of the shoe is VERY thin and you can feel everything - a delight to wear - until you step on a sharp pebble on a concrete sidewalk. OUCH. These insoles allow me to wear these very lightweight, comfortable shoes without having to be extra careful with every step. You trim them to fit with scissors (difficult because the insoles are indeed quite tough, but it's doable) and you're done. Happy customer.
