I didn't bother with the app. I'd prefer not to download extra bloatware on my phone, but you are probably able to garner most of the functionality of this gimble without the app. I used to own an older generation gimble and not having to deal with counterweights is pretty impressive, but you do have to have the phone precisely leveled at middle weight, which can make it difficult if you're trying to film a daytrip while simultaneously having to use your phone for other purposes. You have to either leave it on the grip claw or you have to constantly recalibrate the phone weight.Charging it was very simple. No need for external charging batteries. The tripod gives it an extra area to grip but I am glad that it's removable. I will guarantee that I'm going to lose the light module within the year, but out of the box this is very usable if you're willing to put the time into setting it up.There were a couple of times when I didn't have it completely balanced and it would create this jerking motion while I was filming. Completely ruined the shot and lost the moment. Hard to say if I will keep this longer term but I will probably try out the app.This also works better with caseless phones. I have an iPhone 16 pro with a minimalistic phone case and even then I'd find myself popping off the case just to better calibrate the phone to the gimble.Not a perfect solution but if you get it right, you can get some very smooth footage out of this.

The only problem I've encountered with this so far is that the joystick on the gimbal is also a button, and it's a very easy button to press which then changes the gimbal mode. I will need to learn to be extremely delicate with the joystick as to not change the mode when I'm only trying to rotate the camera. Other than that it's great so far.

For the price I think this is an exceptional value. I use this on a recent trip to Thailand and Laos and it worked great exactly what I needed. I was traveling solo and just wanted something small that I could use to do some pictures and videos. It was a bit heavier than I was expecting, but I’ve never used a tripod or stabilizer before. It was super easy to set up in store in my backpack. I think this is a great entry level item for anyone who’s looking to get into photography or content creating.

If you don't know how to use this product don't bother buying it. It has an app, that is supposed to teach you how to use it, but unfortunately it does not have the smart X on the app. So what is the point? If I would have kept the box I would have returned this. I was told there was an app so I didn't even bother to keep the Box just threw it away. Lesson learned. No clue if it connects to Bluetooth no clue how to use it at all as there are absolutely no instructions except to show what the buttons are. What good is that? When you have no clue what the buttons mean. Another Amazon fail I wish I learned my lesson already

This smartphone gimbal is a solid choice for anyone looking for stability and ease of use. I’ve used it with my iPhone 16 Pro Max, and it holds them securely without any issues. Interesting and cool initially, but a struggle to get use to and learn, i would prefer more simple and its heavy.

This is a great gimbal for any smartphone! Between my larger s20 ultra and my (slightly) thinner iPhone 15 pro max, this holds both phones very well. For the price, it’s a phenomenal value, and it competes with the higher end gimbals like the osmo easily. The battery life is phenomenal, and it keeps my phone very stable during videos. It takes a little while to get use to the way it functions, as it’s a little funky with the horizontal stabilization, and the vertical stabilization isn’t much better. That being said, once you learn its quirks, it’s a great gimbal with great functionality. It folds down very well, and locks up after powering off to prevent any issues and store in your pocket. It is a little on the heavier side but overall it’s a great product, and it’s great for maintaining a good stable video!All this said, the only thing keeping this at 4 stars is the horrible app functionality. Although unnecessary, it’s needed for face tracking and the app is just not good. Aside from that, the gimbal is great and works for what I need!
