Delicious and a Great Value
As a first time buyer of crystallized ginger, I went with what I presumed was the best brand, Ginger People. As far as taste is concerned, I wasn't disappointed. If that's all there was to it, I'd buy nothing but Ginger People brand. (Incidentally, I'm using it to help with my sciatica after reading a lot about the health benefits of ginger.) Unfortunately there's another factor. The box says serving size 8 pieces, servings per container 4. That means there should be 32 pieces in the box, give or take a couple. With the three boxes I have used so far out of six ordered, I have found this NOT to be the case. One box held only 19 pieces; the other two were 22 and 24 pieces. I know, because I count out the 8 pieces I am supposed to eat per day and set them aside. So Ginger People ranks very high for me on taste, but if value for your dollar concerns you as it does me, you should take into account that you may (though your experience may be different from mine) be paying more per yummy piece than you thought you were.I have since ordered and received from Amazon the Dried Crystallized Ginger, 2.5Lb sold by Green Bulk (now there's an appetizing name!). It's a formidable foil bag, about 13" tall and 7" wide. It does weigh 2.5 lbs, and makes no claim on how many pieces it contains. I bought the chips, which look like someone stepped on Ginger People's chunks and flattened them to about 1/8" thick. The taste is a little different from GP's, but I think it's very tasty and a little less coated with sugar, which I prefer. I guess I was expecting something like rawhide for the price, but the chips are tender and hot-sweet. The source is Thailand and there is a label saying USDA Organic. GP's source is China, which they brag about as it being "where ginger began." I plan to use ginger indefinitely and I'm a practical person, so it's the bulk version I'll be buying from now on.

Second batch. ..not too happy.
I love ginger and this is the first time trying the crystallized ginger. It has the right amount of sweetness and spiciness and I am very happy with my purchase. I will be purchasing these again. Thank you for making such a wonderful product. They are just wonderful.Revised review. ..I bought a second batch of the ginger and I was highly disappointed with the amount of sugar that was in the bag. I feel like I paid for a pound of sugar. The bag is 2.5lbs. I strained all the ginger and the amount sugar left was astounding. I feel ripped off. It's one thing to get a bag of chips out of a vending machine and it's an airbag but when you pay $15 for a product u expect to get the most out of it. I understand that sugar is part of the product but wow. I filled up a nice sized cereal bowl with this sugar.I still love this ginger and may purchase it again in the future if they reduce the amount of sugar they use but for now I may try other sellers of crystallized ginger to see how they compare. Until then I've reduced my review to 3 stars.

Indescribably delicious!
This stuff is SO good!!! I just love the sweetness combined with the kick of the ginger. I have tried several brands and find that this brand is consistently the best. Pieces are tender but not mushy, evenly coated with sugar but it's not caked on, sliced thinly and contain very few woody, fibrous pieces. (I think occasional woody pieces are the nature of the product and are inevitable. While I get a few woody ones, none have been inedible.) I prefer the thin slices over chunks and that might be why I am partial to this brand too. I am diabetic but eating a few pieces of this doesn't affect my blood sugar very much. I love that I'm getting a delicious treat and getting the health benefits of ginger. I have used this when I have felt nauseated and it really does alleviate the nausea. I wish this came in a resealable bag instead of the stiff plastic that rips so easily. Of course, this is easily remedied with a zip lock bag!

This ginger was great with settling my stomach ache
I got this to help with sea sickness. Since I got this about a month prior to going on my vacation, I have been testing it out. I have added it to my hot tea as it steeps, which gives it just a little sweet taste and I love the added ginger taste in the tea. I also got sick to my stomach one night and since I knew ginger helps to settle your stomach, I immediately got a piece of this ginger. After only about 7 minutes, my stomach started feeling so much better. I am amazed. Now let just hope it works great on the boat. The taste has a little spicy pepper twang to it, but I think it is very good. I was not prepared for how big the bag was going to be. I got the 2.5 lb bag and it is huge. I will be passing it out to my family members.

Inconsistent
The first and second orders were completely different from each other. The first came well packaged in a resealable bag. The second came in a flimsy cellophane bag that had come open during shipping. In addition, the product was different. The first was first quality, fat juicy slices. The second had a lot of little pieces and a lot of stringy fibers in them. BUT - I like them both well enough that I'm willing to give it one more try and just placed a third order.Edited to add - this batch was just awful. So hot as to be inedible and very strange consistency. Very disappointed.

Two orders and two different products
I ordered this in June 2015 and got exactly what is in the picture. Plump fill size slices of medium hot almost juicy ginger made up of uniform full size thick slices with absolutely no skins or fiber. It was branded SweetGourmet from trade concepts and was just what was expected. 5 Stars! I re-orded and this time got something completely different and nothing like the picture. These pieces were obviously scraps and partial pieces of small random slices with skins and some fiber and reddish in color branded Its Delish not SweetGourmet as described from It's Delish. Nothing like what is pictured or described. It does however taste about the same, just not as easy or attractive to serve. Obviously a poorer quality product for the same cost. 2 Stars. This 3 star rating a compromise rating between the two.
