If you want to protect yourself from anything that has eyes, nose or mouth, then get a couple of these! I just asked a Grizzly Bear what he thought about it and he said he hated it; so that's how you know it's good! Stay safe out there. Keep it with you when you venture out and predators will be less inclined to see you as prey.

On a recent drive to the Last Frontier we saw more grizzlies than ever. We do all we can to avoid confrontations, of course, but if and when that horrible event might occur, this helps us have confidence. No handguns allowed thru Canada, nore are regular pepper sprays, but this bear spray is allowed. It can be carried on teh supplied holster but I found a deep pocket worked best. It is rather heavy but then again, so is a grizz! I hope I never need it but...as my old maw always said, "Its better to have it and not need it, than to need it and NOT have it!"

Happy to say I never needed it, but it was about half the price of the cans at the National Park. I was happy to have it on my hip!

I did state these are a bit big to carry however: I walk my dog which is a 60lb Black Mouth Cur. I bought these for a number of reasons but primarily for stupid owners who don't keep their dogs tied up.3 times a pit bull came at us. I gave the owner 3 warnings. This week the dog came at us like a freight train and I simply turned around, sprayed and it stopped him dead in his tracks. He turned around and ran right back in the house. Yes I got him. Yes he will live. This time. Had he kept coming at us after being sprayed my next means of defense isn't something I want to move to.....So this stuff works. It saved us from a dog fight and it saved the neighbors dog from being shot. My only comment is I think the 30-35 foot range is a bit off. I'd say more like 15-20 feet. Buy it. I think it should stop just about anything coming your way!

Didn't need to use the spray so it's hard for me to comment on its effectiveness (that said, we also purchased a practice spray from Frontiersman out of curiosity and did play with that). It arrived quickly and well packaged with a handy holster each. As a group, we purchased 2 brands of bear spray to even the odds in case of batch failure. If I recall correctly, Frontiersman also claim a quicker dispensing spray (a stronger mist in a shorter time). The other brand we bought claimed a marginally longer firing distance. The belt loop is a fixed loop so you can only weave things through it (won't attach to molle).

I purchased a two-pack of this bear spray, so that I will have one for when I camp alone, both for hiking, and for personal safety (as a woman who travels a lot to remote areas). The second spray is for my adult son, who lives in a tiny house on my property. He frequently awakens to a small black bear and her cubs on his porch. He is quite fond of the bears, and would not spray them, but it is good to have the spray in the event that one day a larger or more aggressive bear shows up around the house/property. unfortunately, our neighborhood is being clear-cut and many homes built, thus pushing the wildlife out of their natural habitat.
