I really liked this camera BUT on trying out this camera it ...
I really liked this camera BUT on trying out this camera it worked fine. After charging the battery it powered down when focussing. Next day doing some pictures the same thing happened it powered down and all functions froze. Had to remove the battery and wait 10 minutes then replaced the battery and it powered up. Serious fault somewhere in the hardware. Shame takes quality pictures. I returned the camera because of the powering down problem and ordered a Sony A5000L. Opening the Sony package it was sealed with their secure sticker. The Nikon arrived with the internal Nikon box open. This is suspicious. I think I was sold a second or grey good.

Zoom fantastic for wildlife
What a camera!! Bought it for 4 weeks in Africa and took over 1000 shots plus movies. Zoom fantastic for wildlife, easy to carry round, unobtrusive (important in some areas) exceeded my expectations. And it tells you where you have been which was great for Africa. Now we are home it has become my wife's camera and seems pretty foolproof without having to do lots of fiddling with settings.Things to watch:1) Reviews warn of delicate flash mechanism and I agree. Also had another problem but sent it back under warrant (they even cover carriage) and no problems since.2) On extreme zoom need a steady hand (which I do not have). Even a mini tripod attached and held in the hand made for better shots.3) I am spoilt by a Panasonic DMC-FZ200 which takes fantastic shots in very poor light. I don't think the Cannon is so good in poor light conditions, but I expected that anyway when I bought it.Overall delighted with it - does all I expected of it and more. Unless I am expecting poor light, I often only take this one.

Early death.
It was a lovely camera while it lasted... but it died 2 years after purchase. At this price this wasn't good enough. Quality of pictures was excellent and delivered all it said it would - for the first 18 months and then started to spring small problems like a fuzzy zoom. And eventually would only open for business with the dial between modes. Now it has turned up its toes and doesn't take any images at all, I just get white screens.

A brilliant little camera
A brilliant little camera, takes amazing quality pictures as good as many D.S.L.R.'s yet still fits into your pocket.I used its 30 times zoom to take a picture of the moon (just for fun) and it took a very passable photo showing the craters quite clearly. One slightly annoying thing it can be a little awkward to hold, as the most comfortable position puts one hand on top of the flash and the other on the movie button, once you learn not to do this the little camera is to me faultless.

Cool Camera for a cool price
I am totally non-technical when it comes to cameras etc so I was delighted that this was literally an unpack, easy set up and" ready for action quickly", piece of equipment. I love the large screen, and although I haven't had time to get really familiar with it's functions it doesn't appear complicated. I do keep getting surprised by the way the flash pops up. I'm used to holding my previous camera in such a way that means this pop up flash catches me out. Hopefully it will just be a matter of time before I adjust. As I said, I'm yet to fully test this camera but am pleased with it so far and it appears to be very good value for money so I am happy with my purchase and the product.

picture capture is are not always perfect.
doesnt always give you the best pictures usually the pics are worse than my 5yr pentax that it was meant to replace.you really have to hold the camera still and then take a picture on automatic. Anywhere thats theres a little movement and the camera gives very blurry pics.the HD Movie capture works well - much better than my old panasonic digital video recorder. so thats one less item to take on holidays.

Faulty design - unexpected switching on - lens problems
We have been very disappointed in this camera. The first one failed within three days of being taken on a holiday of a lifetime. We received a replacement which has failed in exactly the same way in spite of being sent to the Nikon service department for repair. On each occasion the failures have followed the same course. First the camera starts up while being carried without anyone touching the on/off button. Each time it has become stuck in a partially open position with the lens at about half its maximum forward travel as it opens. At the same time there is a persistent clicking noise which seems to be unstoppable (the on/off button does not stop the opening - we can stop it by removing the battery). As a result the battery drains quickly. The camera is then recharged and on the first occasion it is switched on the lens moves forwards to its maximum extent and remains there clicking furiously for an indefinite period. Removing the battery as above stops the noise. Replacing the battery causes the camera to switch off - the lens retracts and then starts to click indefinitely again. Do not buy this camera if you value your photos. On the plus side when it is working properly the zoom is fantastic and the picture quality is good.

I love this camera
I love this camera, it was everything I wanted. It is not too big, it takes excellent photos, especially in low light. I have been totally impressed. The only thing that took some getting used to is the pop up flash wich comes up exactly under where my hand holds the camera! I have already taken some great shots. Zoom is fantastic.
