This is one of the best models I’ve built because the extreme accuracy of all the parts fitting together, all parts and screws needed. It went together as planned and works great. I’m an 84 year old man and have built many models over the years. And this one is one of the best for ease of exact assembly. I painted the tops of the red valve tappits black to increase the contrast for when their working.

I have been pleased with this model so far, but at assembly step 7, I discovered that 3 "valve face"pins, needed to secure the valves to the block, were missing from the plastic sheet of parts. I will reach out to the company to see if I can get replacement parts. Otherwise, the instructions are clear, and the parts seem well packaged. I think that there was just a problem when this sheet of parts was created. I look forward to completing the model and sharing it with my grandson.Follow-up: The company responded very quickly, and resolved the issue of the missing parts to my complete satisfaction. I thought this would be a great model to put together with my 10 and 15 yr old boys. And it was as far as the model aspect of it. All the pieces were there, and the quality of plastic was so so. The instructions were enough for the boys to do it all on their own. I just told them about the parts as they did the assembly. It took a couple of hours without my interference, and we had an absolute blast putting it together! When the big moment came to turn it on and let the boys bask in the glory of their work they were met with a clicking and grinding sound and nothing was moving. We took a look at everything and made sure everything was exactly the way it was supposed to be, and noticed the cheap plastic material they used for the belts wasn't allowing the belts to move.Now we are stuck with a model that doesn't do what it's supposed to because they cheaped out on the belt parts.Some advice I have to those that choose to buy this kit. Make sure you have a bottle of gel superglue. Some of our holes came stripped out and a little drop of the glue held the screws perfectly.Overall this kit gave me time with my boys that I really enjoyed. They loved putting the engine together, but were very let down when it didn't work. They really need to put better belts in the kits.There were little things like the stripped holes that could easily be fixed that didn't really add to, or take away from the value of the product, but it came with plenty of extra screws if they were needed.I may update this after I speak with customer service to let you all know how that experience is.***UPDATE*** 2/27/24Playz support team reached out to me after my review, so I was really impressed with the initiative they took on their end. They were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make the problem right.With the way their production is structured they couldn't just send me new or nicer timing belts so they replaced the product for me. Unfortunately this model had the same belt issues though the engine at least ran this time. I had a great time with my boys assembling the engine again, and just for the sake of exploration I plan on finding a replacement set of belts. Once I do I will post the link here.In summary, after the initial 3 star, I brought the rating up to a 4 star due to the excellent customer service. Its a fun project to work on with someone else or by yourself, but some of the parts run a good chance of being flawed. Taking everything into account the purchase was worth it to me!

Fun project with the kids , solid quality

I gave this engine to my grandson for Christmas. He loves understanding how engines work and was excited to build it. While building, he forgot a step that could not be reversed or corrected without breaking parts. I contacted their customer service to see what could be done so that my grandson could complete the build. We were hoping to just receive new parts to replace the ones he could no longer use. Because they were having trouble getting just the parts we needed, they went above and beyond and replaced the entire engine for us. The Playz engine is great quality and their customer service is outstanding. I would highly recommend buying from this company!

We liked the level of complexity and the modelling shortcuts were appropriate, but at the end, the timing belts do not work. They are too stiff (made of plastic rather than rubber) and aren't able to be realistically (or even simply) tensioned. As a result, the 4 hours of modelling was truly enjoyable, but the end product isn't able to show the correct timing of the spark plugs firing near TDC due to the plastic belts slipping and coming off the valve train and crankshaft gears. Please send rubber or rubberized timing belts !Addendum: THe Playz company responded by refunding my purchase AND allowing us to choose another engine model. WE chose the V8, have it in hand and will begin building it this month. Their customer service is unbelievably good. As a grandparent with "engineer-like" grand kids, I'll be back.

Very easy assembly. Drive belt lnstall could be made easier, belt was a little too stiff and idler roller/gears sloppy fit.

My husband LOVED building this with our 11 year old daughter. They laid all of the piece out and spent the entire evening working on it. I highly recommend!
