Works well with the Insteon Hub to schedule lights on at dusk. The relay is much quieter when operating than the equivalent X10 appliance module and the manual on/off control switch on the side is a welcome addition too. As the module is two way then operating the manual switch does update the device status in the iPad app for the Insteon Hub. I am using a mixture of X10 and Insteon modules so the ability to assign an X10 address to this module is an important feature. One unexpected thing about such a mixture is that it is not possible to schedule X10 modules to operate simultaneously, say several at dusk. With Insteon modules it is possible to create a Scene of multiple modules and have the Scene scheduled for all devices but sadly it is not possible to include an X10 module into a Scene. This might be worked around if it were possible to schedule devices to operate +/- some minutes relative to dusk but sadly the Hub does not support this. At present I don't have enough Insteon modules around the house to know if their dual networking is an effective way of extending the control range of my X10 modules. However for now I can say that the Hub controls this module faster than it does X10 modules. Probably because the Insteon radio network is faster than X10 type of mains signalling.

I have a number of older X10 automation switches, and as this unit is X10 compatible, its worth a direct comparison: Similar size, near silent switching, a dim status led (would NOT illuminate a dark room), and a manual on/off switch on the side. So blows away the older X10 switches easily (and somewhat justifies the price). Because this can be coded with a standard X10 address, it can be used with older X10 set-ups. You don't need an Insteon controller/hub to use these. The instructions were a bit vague on this point, so to code for standard X10 - with unit plugged in, hold down the on switch on the side of the device for about 10-12 seconds until it beeps. Then send the required address 3 times (no need for one/off command). Now it's a plain X10 device. In addition, this X10 compatibility is available alongside it's propriety RF control. So you can setup as Insteon device within their controller, and control from older X10 controllers. Best of both. Within the Insteon App (with Insteon Hub), the device responds quickly and quietly, and provides status in the App. So I am very pleased with the units, just less enthused by the price. Only a few days of use, so will update if I have more to report. But I am delighted to have something more up to date than the old Marmitek X10 switches, that can still be controlled by older X10 only controllers, but with the option of a mobile app operation through the PC-Less Hub.

This product works great with insteon hub unlike the micro on/off modules which can be very bad at processing signals.

I have purchased this item before and would buy again if I need to. Item and delivery are and we're just what I expected.
