I was tempted to get the translucent blue but I got the ceramic black and boy am I happy with my decision! IT IS BEAUTIFUL! The liquid surface is just subtle and beautiful. Performance is what you’d expect from a flagship device. Animations are surprisingly smooth. I’m coming from the m9+ and animations were really abrupt on that device. It’s smoother on this device with no lag. Picture and video quality is excellent. I took some slow mo and hyper lapse videos at a Christmas function a few days ago and people were so impressed by the quality. The bokeh effect is great. Sometimes it would eat into the edges a little bit but for the most part it works well. The quad hd display is beautiful. Indoors I use it between 30% - 50% brightness and visibility is just fine. Outdoors I crank it up to 100% and it is more than visible (this coming from someone that lives in a tropical climate). Battery life is good. On average I get between 4 and 5hrs screen on time with about 15% to spare at the end of the day. This is with watching YouTube, scrolling through social media and about 10 minutes of gaming. I got my phone four days before Christmas so when setting up the phone I got all the system updates and bug fixes so I never experienced any issues with the buttons or edge sense. The buttons are fine. Using them have not been weird or jarring, they’re just buttons and they work. Yes you can press and hold the volume buttons to quickly adjust the volume. Erica Griffin described edge sense as an extra button built into the phone that you can program to do anything. The squeeze feature and double-tap works consistently. Double tapping the right side is a bit uncomfortable since my thumb naturally lands on the power button which is a bit higher than the edge sense area. Sound quality is my only main disappointment. My m9+ had stereo speakers with amazing sound quality but they weren’t very loud. The U12+ gets very loud with no distortion but I miss that beautiful surround sound I got with the m9+. The sound quality is still pretty good for music and gaming just not as immersive as previous stereo speakers. All in all my experience with this phone has been great so far and it’s well worth the money.

I loved this phone! Battery life, camera, screen quality. The "buttons" were finicky sometimes. 1 star rating because it stopped working 6 months after purchase. TooK it to local certified repair shop. No internal damage or evidence of moisture. Tried replacing the battery and charge port and still dead. Really devastated. HTC won't even repair it though I offered to pay for repair vs warrenty.

The device itself it's gorgeous. The display is A+. Everything runs blazing fast, games are beautifully rendered and vivid, easily the best speakers and headphones I've ever heard with a cell phone. But there are some drawbacks. The camera, is not as great as they'd like you to believe. Images are often grainy from the main shooter, the selfie camera is a bit clearer, but still not great at detail. And low light is garbage on both. And the bottomless buttons. They work good enough for most people, and typically they are fine for me even. But occasionally they just don't register than you're pressing them, which gets frustrating when it's a button, it should be simple. Click, boom, action. But it just doesn't always work. Atleast the volume rocker anyway, the power button seems fine. Not a huge deal breaker, but it's annoying enough that coupled with the camera issues, I'm thinking about returning the device and getting a Pixel 3 instead.

I love this phone. The camera is amazing. I wanted an HTC phone because my old one was amazing. Although it's very different, it's still great. The fingerprint touch is lovely. I'm quite sad that they did away with the speakers how they had it before but oh well. I had to get used to the volume buttons & sometimes they don't respond but it's maybe how I hold the phone. I dropped it once but on my driveway and the back of my phone shattered! Ugh, it's my fault and it was the ONE day I took off my case :'( I was very angry with myself but I covered it up with a case as soon as I went inside.It's pretty fast, great picture & video quality, long battery life, and enough space for me.

I love this phone! It's beautiful and so easy to use. The sound quality is superb, and it takes the best pictures. It's very fast. I've used HTC phones for years and I highly recommend this phone! I'm a happy camper! You have got to have it.

Best phone of 2018! The software updates have been great.

Refurbished phone. Problems with it from day one. No cables. No documentation. Wish I had purchased a phone from a known vendor. Won't do it again.
