I have tried every Shark Cordless Vacuum Cleaner there is and was always underwhelmed by how lacking in suction power they were even on maximum (so always returned them) BUT this Shark Powerdetect Cordless with the Clean and Empty Station has truly blown me away. I truly believe that it could be a replacement for a corded upright. I love the detect features where by it changes the brushroll RPM automatically between carpets and hard floors (slower for hard floors faster for carpets) and also adjusts the suction power based on how much dirt it detects that it is picking up. It boosts suction to maximum when it detects it is up against an edge and also when there is a lot of dust and debris being picked up, returning to a lower suction level when it senses the surface is clean. This also works in the hand vacuum mode when using the attachments. It also has two other suction settings, maximum and eco which turns off all detection features. It has a flexible arm where the vacuum breaks in the middle to be used at a 90° angle to be able to get under low furniture. It seems very well built compared to other sharks and docks on the clean and empty station where it self empties into a larger dirt bin which can hold up to 45 days worth of dirt. I do believe this could be true for the average household but have found myself emptying once a week at present as we have just had new wool carpets fitted to the whole house so are still in the shedding phase. This vacuum pics up debris extremely well and also has a lot of agitation whereby it vibrates grit and dirt out of the carpet. It has a great selection of attachments, my favourite being the duster crevice tool. My only downside I have found so far to owning this vacuum is that the foam filters inside the handvac get dirty rather quickly and pass quite a lot of fine dust into the motor, so have found myself picking off large amounts of fluff and dust from the filter in between washes so definitely buy a spare set (I tend to use my upright that uses a bag to clean the foam filters regularly) Even with the filters covered in a thick layer of dust it doesn’t seem to loose any noticeable suction. However the filters inside the self empty docking station stay very clean and I doubt you will need to wash them as often as stated in the manual. Overall this is an excellent vacuum with tremendous power, brilliant design and holds a lot of dirt before needing to be emptied. It also comes with a 5 year guarantee so if anything goes wrong Shark will send you the part you need to fix the issue or replace the machine for you if not fixable. The battery life on this machine is great, I can do my whole 3 bed house on a full charge. Just a side note for anyone unsure - this machine now has the updated bin design. The old design just had a screen in the bin that as soon as it got covered in debris it would lose suction power until it was emptied into the docking station. This new bin design that has a “cyclone” which fixes that problem. I believe if you have the “old” bin design and contact Shark they will send you a new bin which fixes the problem.

Bit of a pricey purchase but wanted to treat myself to (what i would personally consider) and premium cordless vacuum. The base that empties the vacuum was a great feature which is why I chose this vacuum. Ive had this product for 11 months now and I'm still happy with this purchase. Ive managed to do a full hoover of my 3 bed house (80m2 floor area total) with roughly 40% battery remaining. Picks up dirt very well, though this model in the UK doesn't have cyclone technology (I presume this is patented by Dyson) so the dirt just hits the filter and the pickup performance reduces as it gets fuller. But just placing this back on the base to get emptied takes a few seconds and you're good to go again. The base comes with a scented capsule which emits a fragrance when the base extracts the dirt from the vacuum. Ive not changed it in 11 months so it smells a bit dusty but I won't be bothering changing it as I don't hang around my vacuum cleaner smelling it once I'm done vacuuming. The weight of the vacuum is fairly light and easy to manoeuvre around. Ive recommended this to friends and family when they notice ive have this vacuum.

I have used a few cordless vacuums over the years and this Shark PowerDetect Clean and Empty has been the best so far. The suction power is excellent and the PowerDetect feature really does adjust automatically depending on the floor type. You can feel it increase on carpets and it picks up far more than I expected, even after using my old vacuum the day before. The DuoClean head works well moving between hard floors and carpet without needing to switch anything. The Anti Hair Wrap Plus is also genuinely effective. I have pets and usually spend ages cutting hair off the brush roll, but this keeps it surprisingly clean. The biggest upgrade for me is the auto empty base. You finish vacuuming, dock it, and it empties itself into the 2L base without creating dust clouds. It makes the whole process much easier and keeps the airflow strong because the handheld part never gets clogged. The base unit is a bit larger than I expected but absolutely worth it for the convenience. Battery life has been solid. I get around an hour on a normal mixed floor clean and the battery charges fairly quickly. The vacuum itself is lightweight and easy to move around, especially on stairs. The pet tool is powerful and great for sofas and the car. Overall, this is a brilliant cordless vacuum with great performance and genuinely useful features rather than gimmicks. The auto empty base alone makes it worth choosing over other models. Highly recommended.

It’s exceedingly heavy. Even with just the body and small roller or other attachment on its heavy. I like the easy to use set me back and I clean myself as well as charge myself docking station which is so easy to empty. Just hold over a bin or bag push slid the release button and yeee no dust covered me or floor’s etc. so that’s fabulous. The main head is easy to use and it is electric mind so no need to push like a cylinder vacuum. The anti hair thing is great noooo tangling awesome. That means I don’t have to clean the rollers of hair Great. The lights are cute. But me thinks it’s more you you can see the dust or what have you rather than it sensing it. The snap me in half stick is good so thanks for that. Great for underneath the beds low cupboards chairs However. The only carpet I have in the house are on the stars and landing. I think it could do better I like to see where the head has been you know the “ I’ve just been vacuumed look “ nope you don’t get it. I feel it could do carpets better Also right up to the edge nope perhaps I’m doing it wrong. But I thought it had the ability to vacuum on the sides You know when you vacuum along the skirting board I’m not happy or maybe I’m fussy. I vacuum every day. Downstairs tiled floors. And my bedroom twice a day. Morning and evening. No im not messy. But my hair is. And the lights on the head of modern cleaners mean You See Everything. Ugg. Oh happy me Bottom line is. Would I buy it again No. I’ve had better lol Could an old disabled person use it. ? I don’t think so. It’s too heavy. Does it clean well Hard floors yes. Rugs and short pile carpet yes. Around skirting yes but no. Is it easy to use. Yes It’s not the best I’ve owned it’s not the worst. The cordless thing is awesome no need to stop start plug in plug out so that brilliant. I leave it to you. Quality is good. Battery life is good 👍. Hair removal good it seems durable it’s not flimsy. I’ve only given 4 stars because it’s so heavy and I’m used to slugging 25kilo sacks of feed up and over my shoulders

I wish that I could give it 6 stars. What an incredible piece of kit it truly is. Got it at an amazing price in a black friday deal too... Super simple to assemble, kind of ready to roll anyway...the instruction sheet should really be a glossy high class mag, ,it deserves it to compkiment the quality. instead of the very basic B&W instruction sheet ,I found hard to read. I am clumsy ,so I didn't want to break anything but I watched a demo & it was very obvious. It is extremely powerful & takes you for a walk instead of pushing & pulling. Glides with ease, slows down speed on laminate flooring in an instant of leaving the carpet until it detects & it then kicks in to deal with it. Folds to go under beds etc by snapping the strong lock system with a click . It does similar to break down to use it as a hand held & comes with extra tools for use in that mode. The storage/ dust extractor unit is strong & secure & a doddle to remove & empty the storage box straight into the bin. No mess, no dust & the air refresher device omits a lovely clean fragrance once you pop the hoover onto the unit to empty & rest. I retired my old Shark upright, which I loved but it was getting a little tired round the edges, to buy this. So happy I bought it. It is by far the best hoover I have ever owned by a country mile. I had a Dyson about 7 yrs ago before my old shark that I bought about a year later, after slinging the useless Dyson in a skip.. Best birthday pressie I have ever bought myself. Lightweight, sturdy & very powerful. I have arthritis in my hands & it makes such a difference. It does all the work, you simply just guide it & it takes off like a rocket. Will definitely be getting sone of the freshners & a few other tools to compliment it. It is platinum standard. I Love it...

Easy to use, battery life last for the whole of our house (3 bed) and it picks up everything with no issues, we have solid floors everywhere and the head wheels don’t scratch the floor at all either (this is something we had with our older vacuum). It’s good at getting around most things, sometimes I wish there was a flexi tube attachment for when I’m doing my car but other than that it’s solid.

Why did you choose this product over others?: This looked like an amazing vacuum cleaner, with its waste bin collecting base, flexi hose, brush technology and excellent cleaning performance. All those features were as described and worked perfectly... for about an hour of use. Because once dust started to collect inside the waste bin, the filters immediately clogged, causing the vacuum motor to overheat and shut down. Now I don't live in a particularly dusty home, and my previous cordless worked without issue. No, it's because this cleaner is NOT cyclonic. That's a major flaw, because the dust just heads straight to the mesh filter and blocks it. This issue has been mentioned in a lot of online reviews. Oddly, the US version is cyclonic, so I can only assume there is some sort of intellectual property licence issue. I contacted Shark, who gave me things to try, I even replaced the filters, but again after a few minutes use it would stop working. They deemed it was malfunctioning (oh really?) and asked me to return it for a refund. Which I did. That wasn't easy either, as I no longer had all the internal packaging and I had to wait for an unannounced collection from UPS any day that suited them! It's a shame, as this showed a lot of promise at a good price. But as this is documented as an issue in other reviews I cannot recommend this at all.
