Love this book- building a yurt next year!
We stayed in a yurt named Climbing Vine Cottage up in Newfield, New York near Ithaca for a little romantic get away after I read an article about yurts in the New York Times. Yurts are these awesome little round houses, as big as a cabin. They are so fun and different. You would be amazed at what you can do on the inside. Even in December in Ithaca we were toasty warm. This book is a great reference about the ancient history of these round dwellings in the Mongolian deserts, and their modern counterparts. It is the best book on yurts out there (and I've seen them all). It has a great reference section in the back. We can't wait to build ours next year. Until then, I'll just drool over this book instead!

Solid information about yurts and a natural lifestyle.
I actually bought and read this book years ago, but I still use it for reference. I should have reviewed it much sooner.I've been fortunate to have spent some time in yurts and have considered living in one full time. I like and appreciate a more natural lifestyle, which is something for which I strive. This book is a sold guide about living in yurts and should be a tool for anyone considering such a lifestyle. The photos and information are solidly good. While living in a yurt might not be for everyone, this can help give the necessary information to help people decide what is best for them.

It’s okay
It’s okay, but doesn’t give a lot of practical information like how to deal with plumbing in a cold climate for example.

Yurts R Fun
Have a strong interest in simple lifestyle and in future will build a home using easy eco friendly material. Saw this book and bought it to increase knowledge of possible homes one could build. Very informative and adds to possibilities of types of home one could build

Great resource
We knew little about yurts, and this book really opened our eyes not just to living in a yurt but the incredible possibilities. The book is practical in its direction, but really allows even a novice to imagine big without becoming completely overwhelmed. Highly recommend.

Great overall guide
I think this book does seem to be a great overall guide to yurts. IYurt-living is more of a fantasy to me right now - but I like to dream. This books makes it feel like it could actually happen. I think it all looks wonderful.

Great for people who don't know what a yurt is!
I bought this for my dad after having to explain to him a million times that a yurt was not a "mud hut" He loves it and has been showing everyone in the family what our future home will look like.
