A+ for these dishes
I replaced multiple sets of Pfaltzgraff with this set - it certainly isn't fancy, but it gets the job done. I can't speak to longevity, but I am impressed so far.I wanted to solve 3 big problems and 1 minor inconvenience:1) Pfaltzgraff 'stoneware' chips all the time. If the plates touch in the dishwasher, if you try to put them away slightly warm, if the plates bump anything even lightly...you get the idea. Really annoying when after just a few years almost all of your plates have at least one chip. Those plates aren't cheap. I have small children and frequently have guests - my dishes get used. Not rough, but used. These Corelle dishes stand up to being used, put in the dishwasher, etc. They seem pretty sturdy and resilient.2) My old dishes were HEAVY. I couldn't let my child carry them. Heck, I could barely carry a stack of them. The Corelle are very lightweight - so much so that you might think they are flimsy, but they aren't!3) My old dishes really sucked in the microwave. You would have a burning hot plate with cold food or scalding mug with cold liquid. The Corelle conducts the heat so much better that I have to keep reminding my husband to use less time when microwaving. The plates/bowls do get warm on the bottom because they are thinner, but I'll take that over getting burned outright! My minor inconvenience: Other dishes are only sold in place settings, so you end up with a million mugs that (if you're like me) you never use. Even if you need 12 place settings (like I do), who honestly needs 12 mugs?! Pfaltzgraff is bad about this, especially if your dishes are discontinued at some point. But I digress. This set is ideal, because you get what you need and want - dishes and bowls with 4 additional serving dishes. They are nice looking dishes - very simple - but the wow factor comes from how practical they are. Incredibly lightweight, take up less room in the cabinets, stand up to daily use, and look pretty good while doing it. I'm completely pleased!**Update 09/10/2015** I'm still loving these dishes and still impressed. I accidentally dropped a dinner plate on my travertine tile floor (covered by a rug, but the floor nonetheless) and it DID NOT break! I had already braced for the shattering and was shocked when it didn't. I don't recommend testing this out, but I am very happy to still have 12 plates. My Mom is tickled that I bought Corelle - she has a set that has lasted for 30+ years. I would recommend these to anyone - they are worry-free.

I love the bowls the large rimmed bowls are great for ...
Light weight and It was just what I thought it would be . I love the bowls the large rimmed bowls are great for pasta and the small bowls I use more then I ever thought I would , and the soup/cereal bowls are a perfect size . cleanup a breeze and they stack in a much lower height then my stoneware that these replaced, I bought this for the lightweight to replace the heavy stoneware set that I had, the plate will slide on the table a bit while cutting a steak but I was expecting this to happen when I bought this lightweight set . compared to the stoneware did not slide much at all. also the dinner plates had a bit more flat surface then my expensive stoneware plates, the bevel on the plates edge keeps the food in the plate very well. I love this set ,great value ,( lightweight ! main reason for buying this set) and hard to break or chip , the platters are a good size and the 1 qt bowls are great but I did buy the Corelle Livingware Corelle Fun Packs, 5 Pieces, Winter Frost White bowlhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00028QMFM/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_2 set to go with this set because it had a 2 qt serving bowl which it complemented the 2, 1 qt serving bowls that came with the dinnerware setperfect and for 5 bucks more then buying the 2 qt bowl by itself I got the 4 ,28 oz bowls in wich I will use for leftovers and some meals and soup for myself or any big eaters.great set and I will buy again

Indestructible? Apparently not, but...
Previously, I had written a glowing review about how much I love this set of dishes and how I've dropped multiple pieces from this set from various heights, at various times, on various days, and they proved themselves virtually indestructible. I deleted that review and I believe I must offer an explanation. It's quite simple: I knocked a dinner plate off of the counter and it shattered. I'm not going to lie; I was shocked. I didn't know it was possible to break Corelle dinnerware. As I stared down at the jagged white fragments strewn across the kitchen floor, I could only wonder how it could possibly happen... (Side note: My husband suspects that it happened because the plate landed perfectly upside-down.) Nevertheless, we picked up the pieces (literally) and persevered. That was about a year ago, and we've continued to use our service for 11.5 in the same manner as we had our service for 12. Everything has been knocked around, banged against the sink, and treated as usual, and nothing else has broken. Go figure...Bottom line: My 5-star rating stands. I still love this set. The realty is if we had any other brand of dishes, we'd be down to service for 6 by now.

Great value for money.
What a great lightweight set of crockery. Our old plates were heavy china and although they had lasted a long time, these old hands were getting tired of picking up that weight. On vacation recently, these Corelle plates were stocked in our condo. We were all amazed at how light and easy to use they were. Even the kids loved them!. Of course, we liked them so much that as soon as we got home, we ordered them on Amazon.Although we would have liked the embossed ones, those are not available in a large 12 place set like this one. So we went ahead and ordered these. They are very light - almost to the point that they seem too fragile. But a plate dropped on the floor recently and it didn't break so they seem quite durable - although I don't think we want to be doing that a lot. There are all sorts of plates and bowls that you'll never be wanting for any particular type. There are no mugs in the set which is Ok with us since Corelle mugs are porcelain and not glass like the plates. Being plain white, they look good with anything. These are highly recommended if you're looking for a lightweight set of plates.
