It doesn’t have a fire starter in the sheath but it does have a diamond sharpening rod. You can use the matches in the survival kit to start a fire though if you get lost and need to get one going.

Probably not because the blade isn’t full tang. A lady that purchased one of the original first blood models her knife fell from a height of about 4 feet and the blade snapped. I’d get the Rambo 3 model or even the Hibben IV machete.
