Perfect Pie Carrier
We are coming on barbecue and picnic season, Mother's Day, and July 4th. This is the perfect pie carrier to take with you for those wonderful days. There us a 9in Pyrex pie plate and than the portable plate. It snaps right on, fits the 9 in pie plate perfectly. You plan carry it by the handle. Easy wash and bring. It could not be better. Let your pie cool, if you have a meringue, no problems, it fits very well with no damage to the meringue.Following is one of my favorite pies. I use my own pie pastry recipe, and the filling is divine.LEMON SOUR CREAM PIE INGREDIENTS:CRUST:Cream Cheese Crust - I used Crisco's recipeFILLING:1 cup granulated white sugar1/4 cup cornstarch1 tablespoon finely grated lemon zest1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice3 large egg yolks1 cup half and half cream2 tablespoons butter1 cup sour creamTOPPING:1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream2 teaspoons powdered sugarfinely sliced lemon peel for garnish (white pith removed)DIRECTIONS:Prepare the crust: Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. Prepare Crisco's Cream Cheese Pie recipe - you can find it HERE. Place it in a 9-inch pie plate and press the pie dough into the pie plate and up the sides. Bake 9 to 11 minutes, or until the crust is golden or lightly browned. Remove from the oven and let cool.Prepare the filling: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar and cornstarch. Whisk in the half and half and lemon juice. Heat over medium until hot to touch. In a small bowl, use a fork to beat the egg yolks. Beat in a little bit of the hot liquid, then beat in a little bit more and a little bit more... until the eggs have warmed up. Slowly whisk the eggs into the hot mixture. Cook over medium heat until it comes to a full boil, whisking constantly. Remove from heat. Add butter and lemon zest and stir until the butter is melted. Set aside to cool slightly.Prepare the topping: In a medium bowl, use an electric hand mixer to whip the whipping cream to soft peaks, then beat in the sugar.Assemble the pie: Whisk the sour cream into the warm filling mixture, then scrape the filling into the baked pie crust. Spread the whipped cream on top of the lemon layer. Sprinkle pieces of lemon peel on top, if desired. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.Recommended. prisrob 04-12-15

Just right for storing and transporting pies
I have an 15-year old Rubbermaid pie keeper than looks a lot like this one, but evidently Rubbermaid doesn't make them anymore. I needed a second one to transport and store pies so I took a chance and ordered this one.I really didn't need another pie plate, but this one fits perfectly in the recessed bottom of the container. It's straight sided, without the lip/handles that some of my other Pyrex pie plates have. My other pie plates are too wide to fit in the outer container. Not a problem, I'll just use this one when I need to take a pie someplace. It's also not extremely expensive, so I won't hesitate to leave it at someone's house.I like that the outer container has a handle on the top and on both sides, making it easy to carry. It seals safely so there are no worries about picking the container up by the top and the bottom falling off. I like that the bottom of the container is recessed, which keeps the pie from sliding around and getting damaged. I also like that the container has ventilation holes - keeping a pie sealed up air-tight will make the crust soggy. I like that the top is see-through plastic so I don't have to open it to confirm whether it's the pumpkin or pecan pie. The plastic is a little cheap feeling compared to my Rubbermaid, but substantial enough for normal use.Overall this is a nice way to cook, store and transport a pie. I don't like it quite as much as my old trusty Rubbermaid pie keeper, but I'm glad I bought it.

Excellent Purchase
I was actually looking for smaller pie cover; really only wanting something that would cover and keep my pumpkin pie from drying out when it was in the fridge.For that purpose this Pie holder is overkill. It's LARGE. It's tall enough for meringues and takes up more room in the fridge than I wanted. BUT it's impossible to dislike it even one star because it's just so nice.WHAT YOU GET AND WHAT I LOVE► 9-in Glass pie plate included! How cool is that. Not just the cover/carrier but the pie plate too.► There's a handle to carry it.► And you can use the handle because there's a sliding lock that keeps things together. The clearish top fits onto the red bottom. There are tabs that when you rotate the top, 'lock' the pieces together.► Tall enough for meringues.► MADE in the USA.► BPA FREE!SUMMARYFrankly two of the big selling points for me was that this was BPA-free and not made anywhere else but the USA.I wasn't concerned about getting the glass pie pan, but who can't have enough of these. And I love that you can carry pies with a handle.RECOMMEND.

So tough even a determined cake-loving dog couldn't break in!
Two years later, this is a purchase I regularly pat myself on the back for making! :) I rarely buy items that take up a lot of storage space and have a (seemingly) narrow range of use, but I was baking tons of pies a few summers ago and had no good way to bring them to gatherings, so I went for this. So glad I did! In addition to pies, you can fit a standard-sized plate in here with a cake, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, sandwiches, etc. It's perfect for transport, keeps flies and gnats away when you're storing any of these things on the counter, and eliminates the need for plastic wrap -- less waste! But the thing that made me come back and write a review after two years was when I arrived home after a few hours away, and found it upside-down on the living-room carpet ... with my 80-pound dog looking incredibly guilty, and my pineapple cake on a ceramic plate still safely inside, with the lid securely locked. Highly recommended for home and travel use ... plus, even a big, cake-loving, naughty dog couldn't manage to open it!

Excellent quality
this is the perfect carrier to protect your pie! It comes with a pyrex pie plate and the plastic is well made. The handle on top is a great addition.
