When I was comparing ingredients between this & some other natural kennel cough treatments, I chose this one because of the amount bof ingredients used...and because I know how useful they can be for humans with a similar sort of Upper Respiratory Infection. I am working to get back into fostering dogs for our local shelter that is ALWAYS over-capacity & most dogs that come from there have a temporary URI (like kennel cough) that needs to be treated. I have to use the medicine from the shelter for any rescues I take in, but I prefer not to get any vaccines or medications that are not absolutely necessary for my own animals (who are very healthy). However, I know that kernel cough can be very contagious, so I want to be prepared to be able to treat my own animals before there's a problem (& hopefully keeping them isolated while the foster goes through any meds will help protect my animals as well). Glad to have this on hand just in case. If my dog gets ill & gives me an opportunity to test this out on her, I'll come back & update this review if it turns out to not be as good as I expect it to be. If you don't see an update, though, you can safely assume that this has been effective in managing any little cough she happens to develop.

This may not be the best way to go. Holistic/herbal remedies are usually good for certain things, but I think it's gonna take a visit to the vet. Although, my dog absolutely loves the flavor.

Over the past six months, I've used many different brands of natural/herbal cough supplements for my 14-year-old pitbull and they all seem pretty comparable. Before the drops, my dog coughed occasionally. With a daily dose of the drops, she still coughs occasionally, so I'm not sure if the drops are helping (i.e. keeping her from getting worse), but I figure they aren't hurting.These Santkol drops do not upset my dog's tummy, affect her appetite, change her stools/breath/flatulence, or cause her to have any allergic reactions. I drip the recommended dose on top of her kibble and she happily eats her meal. She's not a picky eater and is used to having various supplements in/on her food.These drops are pretty thick and opaque. They have a mild meaty smell. The dropper is clearly marked and works well (fills to a max of about 0.75 ml). The bottle I received in November 2024 has an expiration date of September 2026.
