I've used plenty of fishing rods over the years, mostly conventional two-piece or single-piece setups for freshwater. When I decided to try a telescopic option for easier portability, I went with this carbon fiber model that extends to 12 feet. The rod feels reasonably lightweight when fully extended, and the carbon construction gives it a little stiffness without feeling overly brittle, but it's still fairly flexible. It casts well for longer distances, but we're talking about fairly lightweight baits for fishing at a municipal stocked lake, so nothing outrageous. The guides seem well secured, and you just need to ensure they line up properly when extended. The spinning setup pairs nicely with standard reels (all fairly inexpensive ones I got from big chains) that I've used before. It collapses down to a little over 2 1/2 feet, so it's easy to transport, it'd still stick out of a backpack though it'd work OK lashed to the side of one. The way this collapses is the main reason I wanted a pole like this. The tip section also feels a touch whippy, which can make precise casting trickier in windy conditions. Overall, this rod works well for what it is. It's a convenient, packable option for casual trips where you don't want to haul multiple rods. I haven't tried it for any saltwater use, I'm far from the ocean, so I can't speak to its performance there. If portability is your priority and you're not expecting tournament-level performance, it delivers without major frustrations. At today's pricing (January 20, 2026), it seems like a middling value for the money.

The rod is flexible as a rubber band. Not suitable to cast heavy weights and baits, which is always needed when surf fishing. It would need a lot more stiffness. Also there should be more guide rings for this long rod.

Great rod, caught some red snapper as well as some saltwater catfish and it held up quite well. I would definitely recommend.

While I can't take this pole out to the (frozen) lake to try it today, I am pleased with it and my children think it will be the best joke in the world for Grandpa come fishing day. The pole is absolutely massive. Seriously, the tallest fishing rod any of us have ever seen. We are mostly lake fishers, so it's a little unfair to compare this to our other poles, but we ordered this for an upcoming boat fishing trip, so we will be expanding our experience. There is not a reel included. We have our own and our own preferences, so attaching our own to the base is simple, expected, and no problem at all. The handle screws to tighten and loosen to allow attaching the reel. The rod base unscrews and flips around for a spiked piece that can face outward for securing in the ground or on the boat. The overall pole is decently made and has a carbon construction that makes it fairly lightweight for the size of it. One of its best features is the telescoping action that allows it to fold down to a manageable size, considering that when it is fully extended, it is a massive (moderately unwieldy) length (ours is 12ft). It's incredibly flexible. Which is why we think it will be fun for long casts in lake fishing and may not be sturdy enough for deep sea fishing. But from the shore, it will get the line out and have that exciting, flexible feel that makes even a small fish seem more exciting. The telescoping action lends it to being more portable and convenient, making it a decent travel option. It is by no means our best pole. We do a lot of fly fishing (even with standard poles), and the full carbon handle doesn't give much space/place for us to secure the fly at the handle for the hike in or out from the lake. The soft case is stretchy and fits well and is easy to put on and off. I like it more than I expected to. Not our best pole, but a good one. We fish with lots of kids, so we always need lots of poles to go around. We see no problem catching our lake trout with this pole, but if you don't need the full length, I'd consider a shorter size.
