Prior to buying these, I’d been buying expensive ‘washing machine’ cleaner bottles at around £4 a pop. I thought I’d give these a try, as they’re far cheaper and my washer was due a clean through. Absolutely spot on, did the job as good at a very small fraction of the cost. Completely converted.

Great idea but they leave a lot of residue in the conditioner tray in the washing machine. I had to clean the tray this morning as it was blocked. Will try the liquid next time

I’ve been using the Calgon 4-in-1 Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets mainly to help keep on top of limescale and general build-up. They’re easy enough to use – just pop one in and run a cycle – so there’s no extra hassle. Over time, I’ve noticed the machine smells fresher, and it seems to run a bit smoother, which is a nice bonus. It’s meant to protect parts like the drum and heating element, and while you don’t see that directly, it does give a bit of peace of mind that you’re helping the machine last longer. At £5 for 15 tablets, it feels reasonably priced, especially compared to potential repair costs down the line.
